Nel college football ogni università può avere 85 giocatori contemporaneamente sotto borsa di studio sportiva (per il football) ed un massimo di 25 nuove borse di studio firmate ogni anno (vado a memoria, ma i numeri mi sembra siano questi). Per i prossimi 3 anni USC, invece, ne può avere solamente 75 come massimo e non più di 15 nuove ogni anno.

I giocatori sono fuori dalla giurisdizione dell'NCAA (ma in pratica sono stati colpiti, le revoche delle vittorie riguardano le partite in cui hanno partecipato i giocatori "non eleggibli" ed i 2 anni di bowl ban sono, parole del chairman del COI, pari ai 2 bowl in cui hanno partecipato giocatori non eleggibili). Per gli HC non è stato evidentemente trovata neessuna prova direttamente e personalmente riferibile alla loro figura.

Perché praticamente la Big12 non esisterebbe più, ergo i campioni delle due division della nuova Pac16 andrebbero al BCS con automatic bids così come prima ci andavano i campioni di Pac10 e Big12.

QUESTA è la (ridicola) difesa del 2009 di U$C alla prima lettera da parte dell'NCAA. E' stata rilasciata al pubblico ieri, ed in pratica pone le base per il tentativo di appello.
Riporto qualche passaggio chiave che fa capire come si arrampich...difenderanno:
In football, the NCAA Staff has attempted to establish a direct link between USC and the issues surrounding student-athlete 1 in two ways: (l) by pursuing unethical conduct charges against the assistant football coach for allegedly knowing about the benefits and failing to disclose them (Allegations I and 3); and (2) by pursuing a novel and flawed theory that a sports marketing agent became a representative of USC's athletics interests solely as a result of employing three USC student-athletes (including student-athlete l) in the summer of 2005. These allegations against the assistant football coach and USC are not supported by the evidence and should be rejected.

USC believes the [NCAA] has pursued these weak institutional allegations in football because it recognizes that without a direct institutional link, the allegations surrounding Student-Athlete I involve only amateurism issues with no institutional violation.
