in realtà, è andata così: mi sveglio, faccio colazione, raccolgo le ciliege che mia moglie aveva lasciato a sciaquare nel lavandino ed il mio gatto aveva scambiato per simpatiche palline con cui giocare, vado in bagno per il mio appuntamento mattutino e poi apro la doccia. Un filo d'acqua che scende, ad una temperatura che sfiora lo zero assoluto. Parolaccia. Mi metto l'accappatoio, esco fuori, vedo che sul display della caldaia lampeggia un 10 e la pressione è sotto 1 bar. Parolaccia ed ancora parolaccia. So cosa fare, apro il rubinetto sotto la caldaia, ma la pressione è coì bassa che invece di riempirsi la caldaia si svuota, il 10 lampeggiante è sempre lì. Parolaccia più imprecazione. Entro, trovo i documenti della caldaia, chiamo il servizio clienti sperando possano darmi un consiglio miracoloso, ma niente. Chiamo il numero verde dell'azienda idrica, mi tengono 10 minuti a telefono per dirmi che c'è un problema sulla condotta regionale, stanno aspettando di sapere il guasto. Parolaccia, parolaccia, imprecazione e bestemmia. Esco di nuovo fuori per vedere se magari la caldaia nel frattempo si fosse riempita: pressione 0 bar. Bestemmia. A questo punto decido per il sacrificio: apro la doccia, acqua congelata, e mi ci butto sotto. Nei momenti in cui non mi manca l'aria per il freddo riesco ad inventare qualche parolaccia nuova. Inoltre, visto che l'acqua che usciva era poca, c'è voluto anche più tempo per lavare via il sapone. Esco, mi preparo in fretta, ma prima di scendere mi ricordo che ieri sera, visto che abbiamo fatto tardi, ho dimenticato di preparare la borsa per il calciotto di stasera, subito dopo il lavoro. Bestemmione con parolaccia incorporata. Preparo la borsa e finalmente scendo. Arrivo in ufficio ore 9.20, cioè 50 minuti dopo l'inizio della giornata lavorativa.
Diciamo che poteva iniziare meglio il venerdi.  :lol2:

we hoped to meet you some weeks ago to exchange views about the time that Mr YYY is spending in Italy. Unfortunately due to the volcanic cloud the meeting has been posponed.
We are still concerned in this project, since it has been the first Erasmus collaboration project for our research group, thus we would like to share in detail any ideas come to light up to now in order to be able to offer an effective and fruitful experience for both the student and the hosting research group.

From our point of view the experience has been up to now extremely unsatisfactory. We had to tutor an half-hearted  student, scarcely committed in research and lab activities.
During the first weeks we suggested Mr YYY to comply with the same working hours of former visiting students, i.e. 8 hours a day. Then we were informed that working hours should have been reduced, thus we proposed a 6-hours-a-day timetable. In particular we pushed for Mr YYY attending more lab hours during the very first weeks (the ones with no lectures nor classes) to make him self-sufficient toward his lab activities.

For a short time Mr YYY complied with our shortened timetables, but soon he told us that her lab work was oveburdening anyway. So he started to be in lab for a shorter and shorter time and with no schedule at all. In January his bibliographic research, lab work and data elaboration took far less than 15 hours a week.
After this his lab hours have been more or less two a day and he often asked for free days in order to do homework required by your University, even if sometimes they weren't due on short notice.

We are strongly convinced that for a visiting student it is crucial doing a cointinuous work, spending enough hours to deeply understand the matter and the procedures, in particular having to be involved in a organic synthesis research project.
We think also it is possible to do ZZZ-University-required homework beyond scheduled labwork, since it doesn't exceed 15 hours a week.
We knew Mr YYY had to attend an organic chemistry course. We received no information about which classses he already attended in ZZZ. We assigned him an organic chemistry class held by Prof. WWW, member of our research group. He attended very little hours and then he stopped attending the class without informing the teacher nor the tutor. When we found out his numerous truancies he said he already attended a comparable class in ZZZ and he decided not to attend our class without informing us.

We think it appropriate to plan together what achievements we want to be accomplished by visiting students during Erasmus and to evaluate them at the end of the stay in order to offer a certified educational experience.

We are now strongly interested in a meeting or at least in a conference call after the first two or three months to assess if the stay is turning out to be formative for the student and if necessary to fix any unsatisfactory points.
