The Mets signed pitcher Josh Fogg to a minor league deal, reports Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post.

Despite poor peripheral stats, Fogg managed to post a 3.74 ERA in 45.6 relief innings for the Rockies last year.  He tossed another 40.3 ugly innings as a starter in the minors.  In his best days, Fogg was able to chew up 30 starts with an ERA around 5.00 for the Pirates and Rockies.

Mi hai battuto sul tempo! Ecco qui il comunicato dei Mets

“In our review of the player’s medical records in the acquisition of J.J. Putz, we were aware that he had a bone spur before the trade.  He had the same condition in 2008 and was able to pitch with it.  J.J. underwent an exam during Spring Training and an additional exam and MRI before he was cleared to play in last year’s World Baseball Classic.  Unfortunately the spur did flare up again in May, and he missed the rest of the season.  We are happy to hear he is feeling well, and wish him success with the White Sox.”

Quale F.O. con un minimo di organizzazione da l'ok ad una trade per un giocatore che ha dei problemi fisici? Il tono del comunicato mi sembra del tipo "Eh, purtroppo la sfiga ha voluto che l'infortunio si acutizzasse proprio mentre era da noi. Ma vabbe', mica possiamo pensare a tutto, no?"

Apre oggi simbolicamente il nuovo topic dei Mets, nel giorno in cui la squadra sta inviando il materiale a Port St. Lucie, sede dello spring training.

Con praticamente gli stessi elementi del 2008, ma con un JJ e un Frankie in più, iniziamo il cammino verso Ottobre.
