Gli Interpol non hanno mai brillato per originalità? Ok, è un discorso sentito e strasentito, sono i Joy Division con un po' di Television in mezzo. In realtà, però, nonostante le marcate (e sottolineo, marcate) influenze, hanno una loro identità precisa, tant'è che se senti una loro canzone senza saper che è loro, non fatichi a risalire a... loro, e scusa il brutto gioco di parole. Il primo disco è un capolavoro, revival new-wave, già sentito, ma un capolavoro, per songwriting (concetto importante) e intensità. Il secondo è un gran lavoro, con dei pezzi della madonna, e diverso rispetto al primo, più easy-listening, si sente più la forma canzone (Evil, Slow Hands), ma anche nei pezzi tradizionali (?!?) a-là Interpol (Take You On A Cruise) si mantengono su livelli straordinari. Il terzo disco, effettivamente, è trascurabile, già sentito, una palla. Peccato.

Giusta analisi. Solo che per me già il secondo era una palla mostruosa. Ma il primo è davvero un disco coi controC. Ottime canzoni, ben scritte, sound nel complesso orginale e decisamente "loro", anche se pieno di riferimenti (ma chi non ne ha?).
Aggiungo che dal vivo, imho, son poca roba...davvero.
Nel genere (anche se con parecchie differenze) scelgo i "The National". Enormi. Spessi così.
