A Mets minor-league pitcher died of an apparent heart attack Friday at the team's academy in Venezuela.
The Mets said in a statement Saturday that Rafael Castro, 18, collapsed and died Friday night in Carabobo, Venezuela. Castro, a native of Colombia, spent two seasons with the Mets' Venezuelan summer league team.
