Apparso pochi minuti fa sul rumor central di espn.com

New York Mets owner Fred Wilpon wants GM Omar Minaya back for 2010, as told to the New York Post Saturday.

"Am I going to bring Omar back next year?" Wilpon responded. "Absolutely. That's a fact."

And when the Post reached Minaya for comment, he made it clear that if it's up to him, manager Jerry Manuel will return, too.

"Jerry is my guy," Minaya said. "We work well together."

The Mets have struggled in 2009, but much of their troubles can be pointed at the injury bug that has kept stars Jose Reyes, Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran off the field for much of the year.

I still can’t believe Oliver Perez is due to make $24 million over the next two seasons… it’s crazy.  He was awful today.  It’s almost embarrassing just how bad he looked.  What’s worse, he just looks so confused and careless out there.

Che prestazione di Perez ragazzi, da cineteca. Lancia per due terzi di inning, facendo fare il giro a tutto il lineup dei Phillies.

Rollins: doppio (8 lanci)
Victorino: base ball (9 lanci)
Werth: 3 Run Shot (12 lanci)
Howard: fly out (2 lanci)
Ibanez: groundout (6 lanci)
Feliz: base ball (5 lanci)
Bruntlett: singolo (1 lancio)
Ruiz: 3 Run Shot (2 lanci)

Inoltre comincia ad affrontare Pedro, lanciandoli tre balls consecutivi, prima di venir rilevato da Figueroa che con tre strikes di fila lo mette K (looking)

Quindi le stats di Oliver sono: 2/3 IP, 4 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 47 lanci ed ERA che sale a 6.82.

A dire la verità ho visto ben poco del resto della partita, ho preferito vedere la prestazione di King Felix e poi la lotta per la Wild Card tra Rockies e Giants, e con la scusa mi sono visto anche Lincecum.

Seconda vittoria in tre partite per Pedro, anche se non è tutto merito suo (cosi come era accaduto alla sua prima W contro i Cubs).

Alla fine i Mets sono riusciti a rientrare in partita, ma un triple play unassisted di Bruntlett (15esimo nella storia delle Majors e secondo a concludere una partita) ha stroncato le speranze di rimonta. La situazione era: Castillo in seconda, Murphy in prima ed ovviamente 0 outs.


Questa sera alle 19.10 (ora italiana), ci si potrà godere Lee (vs Parnell), nell'ultima partita della serie contro i Phillies e per quest'anno l'ultima partita tra i due teams al Citi Field.

Partita praticamente finita dopo il terzo inning che si chiude con il risultato di 5-2 per i Phillies. Three run shot e two run shot di Howard nel primo e nel terzo inning. Successivamente nel nono un doppio di Ibanez che manda a casa Utley fissa il risultato sul 6-2 finale.

I Mets segnano due punti nel primo inning, entrambi unearned, grazie ai due errori di Utley.

Altro inning scoreless per Wagner, che nell'ottavo effettua 19 lanci. Due strikeouts e una base ball.

Altra bellissima prestazione di Lee (5-0), concede sei valide in sette innings con 5 strikeouts, abbassando la sua media ERA a 0.68. Successivamente Park e Lidge lanciano due innings scoreless per chiudere la partita.

NEW YORK -- Johan Santana and Jeff Francoeur are the latest Mets stars to be sidelined with injuries.

Santana was scratched Monday from his next scheduled start because of discomfort in his pitching elbow. Francoeur has a torn ligament in his left thumb, leaving New York without its right fielder and top hitter.

The Mets have 11 players on the disabled list, including David Wright, Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes, Carlos Delgado, J.J. Putz and John Maine.

Interessante vedere come dopo il season high di lanci (120 contro i Nats, il 27 maggio), la sua stagione sia andata un pò in calando:

Qualche infortunio poteva essere classificato come sfiga ma ora che praticamente tutto il lineup titolare è infortunato così come anche altri, io mi porrei qualche domanda sulla preparazione atletica nello spring training ed in generale sul trattamente fisioterapico condotto dal trainer Ray Ramirez e i suoi assistenti...che dite?

Mets to get two players for Wagner

BOSTON -- Billy Wagner is on his way to the Boston Red Sox, leaving the New York Mets for the chance to pitch in a pennant race as a setup man for All-Star closer Jonathan Papelbon.

After a few days of back-and-forth talks about Wagner's future, the depleted Mets traded the left-handed reliever to the Red Sox on Tuesday for two players to be named.

Boston agreed not to pick up his $8 million option for next season.

Wagner's contract includes a $1 million buyout for next year. If his option is declined, he can become a free agent in the offseason and sign with any team.
