"When you carry a nickname like 'The Tank' guys are going to try you," coach Mike Tomlin said. "They want him to prove that nickname is earned."

Asked if he likes it when the players are physical, Tomlin said, "I'd rather say 'Whoa,' than 'sic-em.'"

"I think Willie Colon is as good a right tackle as there is in this league," said offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.

"He's as good a run-blocking right tackle as there is in the league," said offensive line coach Larry Zierlein. "He's an excellent drive blocker and his pass protection has improved tremendously. He's a lot better pass blocker than people want to give him credit for."

3. Terrence Cody

College: Alabama
Height/Weight: 6-3 5/8, 370  :shocking:

Cody is in his second year at Alabama after playing junior college football in Mississippi. Coach Nick Saban made Cody lose 50 pounds before he would allow him to play last fall. He was named first-team All-SEC in 2008. He has good quickness for the position and will play the run well, but is not a pass rusher, which makes him a two-down player. This is a massive man. He is a mid-to-low first-round pick.

The Morning After by Jim Wexell

Earlier in the day, I’d asked Aaron Smith about the young defensive end. Aaron has seen young linemen come and go. His brother told me, during an interview for my book Steeler Nation, that Aaron can tell within one or two practices whether a young, hotshot lineman is going to put in the necessary work to contribute to the Steelers’ three-man line. So I asked Aaron about Ziggy’s work ethic.
“I really like him,” said Smith. “I like him as a player. I like him as a person. I love his heart. He’s going to be a good one, trust me.”
I do, Aaron. Thanks.

:truzzo:

The biggest news out of Latrobe right now is Darnell Stapleton's balky knee. The sore knee kept him out of practice on Monday and Tuesday morning and he was sent for an MRI.

But Stapleton was at lunch today with no brace on the knee, so that's probably a good sign.

From Patrick Troyer of River Falls, Wisc.:
"...I am a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, have been since I was a small boy. I am 38 now and a single father of a beautiful 7 1/2-year-old daughter. She has had a thing for Ben Roethlisberger since she was 4. Well, last year I took her to her first Steelers game (only my 3rd), even though working two jobs didn't make it any easier to buy the tickets (thank goodness for the preseason).

"Well, she was excited to go and, of course, she had her Big Ben jersey on. We went into the stadium early and she would ask me every 20 minutes, "Daddy, where is Big Ben?" Well, after some time of watching him, he started running for the tunnels after his warmups. My daughter was down by the railing when he ran up and handed her the football. The look on her face when she looked at me was priceless. The look on my face was in disbelief. I cried like a little kid. There was nothing that could have ever happened to me with the Steelers that would have meant more than what had just happened. The two things I love the most having an interaction right there in front of my eyes. It brings me tears just writing this and being able to share it with someone.

"Out of the 150 Steeler fans crammed in that small area, he had picked her out before running to the tunnel. The little things that players do make the biggest difference...Ben now has two fans for life (though he didn't need to give us the football for that) and made my daughter a true life-long Steelers fan like her daddy.''
