Jarrod Parker fuori per tutto il resto della stagione.

The injury to the Diamondbacks top prospect is being called an “elbow strain,” and it sounds like it has the potential to be a serious injury, the last thing the Diamondbacks want to hear about a pitcher they were planning to plug into their 2010 rotation.

Diamondbacks General Manager Josh Byrnes said Parker was in Birmingham, Ala., visiting with a doctor who works with Dr. James Andrews. Parker already has undergone an MRI.

He’s going to return to Arizona to visit with team physician Dr. Michael Lee on Monday. Parker would meet with him sooner but Lee is out of town.

“It’s a matter of Doc Lee getting back in and looking at the current MRI and comparing it to our 2007 MRI,” Byrnes said. “He’ll talk to Jarrod, talk to us and we’ll figure out what to do.”

If it’s an issue with his ulnar collateral ligament, it could mean Tommy John surgery. But Byrnes cautioned that other pitchers in the organization recently have suffered that kind of injury and gone the non-surgical route. They’ve rested it, rehabbed it and come back just as strong. That happened with Double-A prospect Kyler Newby, for example.

Immaginiamo un pò l'OF possibile dei Rays l'anno prossimo: Crawford, Jennings, Upton.

Tutti capaci di rubare una trentina di basi almeno. Di palline che cadono nell' OF ce ne saranno davvero pochissime. Farebbero paura, sarebbe atletismo allo stato purissimo, mai visto prima. :gazza:
Poi ovviamente i Rays potrebbero scambiare Crawford. :gazza:
