E' confermata l'assenza al training camp della Guardia titolare Arron Sears (2 scelta del 2007), al cui posto dovrebbe partire da starter Jeremy Zuttah (al secondo anno tra i Pro). E' abbastanza inquietante leggere - da tampabay.com - la storia del malessere che ha colpito Sears al punto da non consentirgli di prendere parte al Camp:
"Sears briefly attended the team's off-season workout program and the first voluntary minicamp under coach Raheem Morris. But teammates noticed Sears was more withdrawn than normal and at one point he became non-verbal, writing down answers to questions on paper. Sears abruptly left the Bucs after that. A two-year starter at left guard, Sears missed one game last season with a concussion. But there have been no indications that his problem is related to that injury. "I'm not frustrated. I'm just looking out for Arron and I hope everything comes together for him and that he reports,'' said general manager Mark Dominik. "We want to be there to support him. I think that's the most important thing for us. Asked if Sears might play sometime this season, Dominik said, "I hope so.'' Sears left the Bucs off-season workout program in the spring and returned to his home in Alabama.
In bocca al lupo a questo sfortunato ragazzo, e che possa tornare quanto prima a una vita normale, se non a giocare su un campo da football.
Chiudo con una breve considerazione sul "throwback", altro argomento "caldo" di questi giorni in casa Tampa Bay.
Se fino a poche settimane fa non era per nulla semplice reperire materiale "throwback" dei Tampa Bay Buccaneers, da ieri - nello shop del sito ufficiale - il materiale in white and orange abbonda in quantità industriale: ci sono perfino le jersey di ex giocatori quali Lynch e Alstott, Brooks e Selmon, oltre a quelle dei giocatori attualmente in roster... e poi felpe, polo, cappellini, T-shirt...
Per noi vecchi tifosi, che magari abbiamo iniziato a seguire il football proprio a causa di quelle maglie arancioni e del pirata col coltello tra i denti, il ritorno dei vecchi colori è un fatto di cuore, che ci riporta indietro nel tempo e che - in un certo senso - ci emoziona per davvero. Noto invece – non che la cosa mi stupisca, la mia è una semplice constatazione - che per il management dei Buccaneers il ritorno di Bucco Bruce è più che altro (esclusivamente?) un fatto di portafoglio... in altre parole: come ti spenno il tifoso, con il pretesto/scusa del throwback! :blink:
