Stiamo entrando nel terzo giorno di camp, e sono state eseguite già quattro sedute di allenamento, due interrotte da lampi e tuoni, e non sto scherzando! :lol2: I giocatori che dovranno fare altri 5 giorni con due allenamenti al dì non erano molto contenti nelle interviste!

Pare che a Belichick non sia andata giù la preseason dell'anno scorso chiusa a 0-4, e nemmeno le prime partite della stagione (penso soprattutto a quella con i Dolphins).

I report da Foxboro sono numerosi, però i giornalisti hanno l'obbligo di non riportare formazioni, depth chart e note sulle chiamate, quindi le notizie più interessanti arrivano dai fan che vanno a vedere gli allenamenti dal vivo. Da quello che ho letto, Adalius Thomas è sicuramente quello che sta impressionando di più: pass-rush, copertura, condizione fisica, è sempre tra i migliori in qualunque report. Dietro di lui ci sono i Tight End, tutto il gruppo sta facendo grandi prestazioni, d'altronde con la competizione che c'è... Sono spesso allineati come fullback o halfback. Tra i rookie ci sono Edelman (6° giro) e Nunn (UDFA) che si stanno comportando bene come WR, soprattutto il primo che si sta convertendo, visto che al college era un QB. Sicuramente andranno in Practice Squad (se superano i waiver), forse uno dei due se si distingue negli ST può finire a roster, Edelman a punto sta provando, con scarsi risultati, come Punt Returner.
Altri rookie che stanno facendo bene sono Chung e Brace, che sfruttando le assenze sono anche entrati negli starting lineups. Meriwheater sempre più leader nel backfield sta collezionando intercetti, soprattutto ai danni di O'Connell che non sembra molto lucido in questi primi giorni. L'importante in questo momento è che prenda parecchi snap, almeno comincia ad ambientarsi, d'altronde è ancora al secondo anno, ed al college ha giocato sempre dietro una shotgun.

Vollmer è già dietro Light come left tackle, e in mancanza di quest'ultimo è stato promosso come "starter", sembra promettente. E' più difficile andare a trovare in negativi, visto che di solito vengono sempre menzionate le giocate migliori e poco gli errori. Comunque Butler alterna alcune buone giocate ad altre cavolate (soprattutto allineato a Moss), Weathley è dietro persino all'ultimo arrivato, Butler appunto e 2/3 della linea titolare è assente (Seymour e Warren). La difesa è un "working in progress" insomma, mentre l'attacco pare andare abbastanza bene, soprattutto con Brady dietro al centro.

Qualche nota sparsa:

-When Patriots OG Logan Mankins first heard that he'd be in pads twice a day for a week he said: "Oh, s---! But I was glad coach told us so we expected it."

-Tom Brady's quote about being told to stay home from games last year is consistent with what Sports Illustrated reported. The magazine said Patriots coach Bill Belichick told Brady that the camera showed a picture of him every time Matt Cassel threw an incomplete pass.

-Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather played both free and strong safety. He picked off several passes and Coach Bill Belichick said he has become a leader on defense.

-Rookie Darius Butler seemed to take advantage of Wilhite’s absences by getting even more reps in the afternoon. The second-round pick seemed to be across from Moss in press coverage in many of those reps. On one play in particular the rookie was seemingly running stride for stride with the future Hall of Famer when No. 81 pushed off every so slightly, faded to the outside and caught the perfectly thrown ball over the top from Tom Brady. I’m sure Butler will continue to see more of Moss throughout camp and will learn from this early rep that very much showed the experience of the veteran and the work to be done for the rookie. Butler has been pretty impressive during team work of late, a good sign that he might be able to contribute as a rookie, maybe even early on in the season.
