:gazza:

Re: Philadelphia Phillies 2008 WORLD SERIES CHAMPS
Jim Bunning 06-21-1964 Philadelphia 6, New York 0
Remembering Jim Bunning's Perfect Game:
The date was June 21, 1964. The Phillies were playing the Mets at Shea Stadium( se non si realizza tra le mura amiche, immaginate un posto migliore?) in front of 32,026 fans. Jim Bunning took the mound for the Phillies on this Father's Day. The father of seven reached back and threw the game of his life. He faced the minimum 27 up 27 down. It was the first perfect game in the National League in 84 years. Bunning only needed 90 pitches and he threw 79 of them for strikes. 10 of the 27 outs recorded were strikeouts. Johnny Callison homered and Bunning knocked in 2 runs with a double as the Phillies scored 6 runs on 8 hits. Bunning improved to 7-2 with the win. Normally a catcher would not dare to go to the mound while a pitcher was throwing a no hitter let alone a perfect game, but Bunning called Gus Triandos to the mound in the ninth inning. Bunning asked him to tell him a joke, just to get a breather. Triandos could not think of one and just laughed at him then told him to go get this guy. Bunning broke every superstition during the game. He talked about the game to his teammates. He counted down outs saying 9 more to go, 6 more, 3 more,
After the game, Bunning learned his wife and one of his daughters were in the stands for the game. Later that evening he appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. Bunning went on to win 100 games in both leagues and became a hall of famer. No day was better than this one in his illustrious career.

cmq hai ragione: from Wikipedia
Primi anni

A St. Louis è andato Matt Holliday, OF proveniente da Oakland.
