NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday that he "will look into" the allegations against Ben Roethlisberger.

The league doesn't have a history of suspending players in civil cases that allege criminal activity, but the wording of the Personal Conduct Policy allows for the possibility. If the jury does find Roethlisberger guilty of sexual assault in the civil case, the commissioner may feel obligated to take action.

Per come è venuta fuori questa cosa credo che Andrea McNulty abbia poche possibilità di spuntarla...non ha nessuno dalla sua parte, i suoi datori di lavoro e colleghi hanno di fatto coperto l'accaduto (tanto che sono citati insieme a Ben), gli avvocati del qb campione del mondo hanno già preso a screditarne l'immagine: se va bene ne vien fuori con un pò di biglietti verdi, magari fatti passare sottobanco - e non è detto che non sia proprio questa la motivazione di tutta la vicenda.
E' materia sensibile e non vorrei che qualcuno se la prendesse, ma accusare qualcuno dopo un anno dai (presunti) fatti e per di più intentare solo una causa civile, beh dall'esterno non aiuta molto a far valere le ragioni di chi accusa.

Non sono pratico in inglese a sufficienza per capire le sfumature:
in pratica l'accusa dice che ci ha provato, magari rudemente, ma poi l'ha piantata lì, oppure è andato fino in fondo?

A parte questo spero per noi che finisca tutto in una bolla di sapone, e spero che non sia vero niente, visto che mi piace pensare che il mio tifo sportivo è riposto in persone che vale la pena di tifare anche fuori dal campo.

OJ docet. Simpson vinse il processo penale, perse quello civile e ci rimise un fracasso di dollari. :D

Ecco, io non lo so, magari Beniamino è davvero un mascalzone, ma il sospetto che sia una mera questione di pecunia è dietro l'angolo.

In a press conference Thursday afternoon, Ben Roethlisberger denied Harrah's Casino employee Andrea McNulty's sexual assault allegations against him stemming from a June 2008 incident.

"I would never force myself on a woman," Roethlisberger said vehemently. He called McNulty's claim an "attack on my family," "outrageous," and "vicious." "I will fight these allegations," Big Ben added. "I'm confident that the truth will prevail." Roethlisberger took no questions from reporters, but was forceful and convincing. It's unclear when the civil suit will begin.
