Gary Russell è rimasto - credo - meno di 24 ore a spasso e ha firmato per i Bengals.

Pittsburgh Steeler report: Source says trade for Bills wide receiver possible

PITTSBURGH - Could the release of Gary Russell signify something else? Like a potential draft day trade is in the works for a return man?

According to an NFL source, the Bills have been in talks about dealing wide receiver Roscoe Parrish to the Steelers.

The reason the deal would be logical, is twofold. First he is a proven wide receiver, (something the team needs with the loss of Nate Washington) but of more importance is what he can do as a return man.

Parrish not only is good, he has been the best the past two years. He led the NFL with a 16.3-yard average in 2007 and a 15.3-yard average in 2008 on punts. He also has reached the endzone and the past three seasons has scored on returns. Parrish also has a career mark of 23.7 on kickoffs.

Buffalo selected Parrish in the second round of the 2005 draft with the 55th pick. He has six starts in four seasons, catching 97 passes for 1,052 yards and five touchdowns.

If there is a downside, it’s he stands just 5-foot-9, 168 pounds, not exactly the wanted size of a starting receiver in the NFL. His career average per catch is just over ten yards, but the source said Parrish could make a good No. 3 slot man if put in the right situation.

There is also one character flaw which may come into play. On Feb. 17, he was stopped in Miami and cited for DUI. It came a month prior to Browns receiver Donte Stallworth killing a pedestrian, also in Miami.

The source said the Bills are looking for a draft pick or picks for Parrish.

Mi sfugge il collegamento col taglio di GR. Cioè Russell era stato messo a fare il ritornatore solo perchè ha delle mani abbastanza sicure...infatti altro non faceva che assicurare il possesso e andar dritto addosso ad una pila di gente.

Comunque a me non dispiacerebbe, tanto si sa che al draft prendiamo un ricevitore che sappia ritornare i calci: Mike Thomas di Arizona ad esempio è uno dei prospetti passato in questi giorni a South Side. A quel punto sarebbe sensato prendere quanto c'è di meglio nel ruolo. Il prezzo? Boh, se pensano di poterlo utilizzare anche da ricevitore per me anche una quinta e una settima (giri in cui scegliamo due volte).

Però Harvin è un pò troppo testa calda per i nostri gusti.

Okey, sparo...trade down a uscire dal primo giro e con la prima di due seconde scelte si prende Eric Wood, che pare piaccia più di Mack, forse perchè il californiano è un centro puro mentre il rosso se la cava bene anche da guardia.
Alla #64 non posso dirti chi arriva altrimenti mi sputtano il draft game

Pittsburgh is right up against the cap, Foote is due a $2.885 million salary, and backup Lawrence Timmons is a much more gifted player. Foote could be released when the Steelers begin to sign their draft class.

Per me questa è l'ultima soluzione, quella da acqua alla gola.
Lo spazio per firmare le scelte - 2.5/3 mil $ circa - si può trovare altrove.
Un modo lo suggeriscono le parole di Hines Ward tre post più su: lui vuole chiudere la carriera a Pittsburgh, seguendo l'esempio di Jerome Bettis. Perfetto: the Bus credo abbia giocato la sua ultima stagione a poco più di un milione di dollari e in più di un'occasione ha accettato riduzioni e ristrutturazioni del suo contratto. Ward l'anno prossimo conterebbe per quasi 8 milioni; se alle sue parole seguiranno i fatti firmerà un'estensione, quella cifra scenderà e potremmo firmare le scelte del prossimo draft senza dover impoverire la squadra in altri reparti.

Nel seguito Jim Wexell avrebbe confermato che Gary Russell era in una casa di Columbus in cui, a seguito di una retata, è stato trovato un bel quantitativo di maria...Russell non è stato (finora) accusato di nulla e Colbert ha poi detto che il suo taglio s'era reso necessario per la firma di Batch...bah. Fatto sta che i Bengals si son fatti trovare ancora una volta pronti sul pezzo

secondo me la polizia in queste occasioni prima informa i Bengals, poi la NFL :lol2:
