La pre-season non è il periodo più indicato per appassionarsi a dei colori in particolare. Le emozioni possono scaturire dalle pagine di storia (e noi ne abbiamo a valanghe) oppure da una partita appassionante, magari di playoff, magari con tanti, tanti gradi sotto zero (la frozen tundra sarebbe uno scenario ideale) ma anche il Soldier Field (vero, Chinasky?), magari in over-time e con capovolgimenti a non finire.
Unico consiglio (magari è un mio fetish): scegli una squadra che giochi al freddo.

football e donne sono due piaceri immensi. a mio modo di vedere, però, sono come acqua e olio. mal si conciliano.

Volevo chiederlo nel topic della Off Season, per sbaglio non ho letto il "GB" di questo titolo.

Comunque vedrò di trovare qualche match delle scorse stagioni per vedere chi mi appassiona di più. Prima simpatizzavo Bucs per Garcia, ora manco più quelli!

non so se qualcuno di voi ha dato un'occhiata al topic Draft Game...stiamo cercando partecipanti per dare il via al giochino: si tratta di un draft comunitario, in cui ciascuno sceglie una squadra e effettua le chiamate come se ne fosse il GM. Non è necessaria una conoscenza ultra-tecnica dei prospetti anche perchè non si dovrebbe andare oltre il terzo round.
La cosa interessante per voi è che nessuno ha ancora preso i Packers, che quindi attendono con ansia un GM...accorrete numerosi!!!

Bisogna iniziare forte, perchè si finisce con molte gare fuori casa e contro squadre presumibilmente toste. Inoltre è neutralizzato il fattore frozen tundra, se mai è stato determinante in regular season. Stando ai record della scorsa stagione è il terzo calendario più facile della nfl, ma i record dell'anno precedente speso mentono.

Packers safety Atari Bigby signed his free-agent tender of $1.545 million on Friday, NFL.com’s Steve Wyche reports.

Bigby, who was a restricted free agent, appeared in just seven games for Green Bay in 2008 and finished the season on injured reserve because of a shoulder ailment. He started all 16 games for the Packers in 2007 and had career highs in interceptions (five) and tackles (86).

Bigby went undrafted out of Central Florida in 2005, but he signed with the Dolphins as a free agent. He eventually landed with the Packers later in his rookie season and worked his way up from practice-squad player to eventual starter.

io sono incredibilmente soddisfatto del draft di ted "the white wizard" thompson...prendiamo alla 9 il DL che ci serviva come il pane...e che DL...insieme a lui ogni domenica nella frozen tundra potremo ammirare anche la sua posse...


alla 26 poi facciamo trade-up con i patriots per prendere matthews...OLB rushatore che ci serviva come il pane anche lui...ok paghiamo forse molto questa scelta perhcè diamo la nostra seconda e i due terzi per la prima e la quinta dei patriots ma sinceramente non mi sento di criticare TT...è da una vita che lo si accusa di tradare verso il basso e se ha fatto questa mossa penso sia perchè volesse a tutti i costi matthews, di cui si parla benissimo ovunque (tralasciando i discorsi legati a cushing)...probabilmente la ns draft war room non vedeva al secondo altri talenti che potessero avere un impatto immediato e tale scelta viene anche confermata dalla scelta di molte squadre di evitare di scegliere al secondo giro quasi che il talento lì non valesse la pena...ricordiamo che i SF non hanno scelto, cowboys e chicago sono passati al terzo e i patriots stessi non hanno fatto che ammassare scelte quasi nel sperare di prendere il talento nei tanti...

finalmente siamo andati con la qualità e non con la quantità...adesso al secondo giorno abbiamo una scelta al quarto, 2 al quinto e al seso e una settimo...probabilmente rinforzeremo la OL...

You can’t be a dominant 3-4 defense without a quality nose tackle and two playmaking outside linebackers. And while nobody knows for certain if Aaron Kampman can make the transition from end or if B.J. Raji and Clay Matthews have what it takes to excel at the next level, the odds of the Packers fielding a solid defense under first-year coordinator Dom Capers sure look a lot better today than they did going into the weekend. “What a difference a day makes,” said a former scout. “All of a sudden, that front seven looks pretty darn impressive. “Give Capers players as talented as Kampman, Raji, Matthews, Cullen Jenkins, Ryan Pickett, A.J. Hawk, Nick Barnett, Al Harris, Charles Woodson and Nick Collins and I guarantee you that he’ll figure out a way to put a very good product on the football field.”

After Saturday, the only real hole on defense would appear to be at the end position opposite Jenkins. But GM Ted Thompson really likes Johnny Jolly and still has faith in Justin Harrell. Plus, Capers has given his endorsement to Alfred Malone. “They’ll be OK,” said the scout. “One of those guys should be able to get the job done. Besides, you can’t have a star at every position. But if Jenkins and Barnett come back healthy and Raji and Matthews are as good as advertised, few teams will have more talent in the front seven than Green Bay.”

While things are definitely looking up for the defense in 2009, fans may want to temper their enthusiasm - at least a little. “It’s going to take some time for the veterans to get comfortable in the 3-4 and it’s certainly going to take some time for Raji and Matthews to get comfortable in the NFL,” he said. “The defense might not look all that pretty in September and October, but I have a feeling that fans are going to be very excited about what they see in November and December.”

Here are a few other thoughts from the scout on day one of the draft:

-“I’m not surprised that Thompson passed on Michael Crabtree at 9. He was probably the best player on their board, but Mike McCarthy really likes the mix of guys he has at wide receiver. They’re very hard-working and unselfish. Crabtree already has some diva in him. Who knows what he’ll be like once he gets the big money. He has unbelievable talent, but I just never saw him winding up in Green Bay.”

-”I think Malcolm Jenkins will be an outstanding pro, but I certainly understand the decision to pick Raji at 9. In a 3-4, the nose tackle position is incredibly important. Just look at Pittsburgh and New England. Those defenses wouldn’t be nearly as dominant without Casey Hampton and Vince Wilfork in the middle. If he can keep his weight under control, Raji could have a similar impact with the Packers.”

“I love Matthews. I had him rated ahead of Brian Cushing, who went 15th to Houston. The kid didn’t start at USC until his senior season, so his best football should be ahead of him. He’s in the low 240s now, but he has the frame to get bigger. He obviously didn’t have as good of a college career as A.J. Hawk, but he might wind up being the better pro. A perfect fit for what Dom Capers wants to do.”

“I was very surprised that Thompson gave up so much to get Matthews. A two and two threes is a lot to move up 15 spots, but he got the player he wanted and that’s always the most important thing. Green Bay still has six picks left and there should be some pretty good players available on Sunday. Will they be able to find an offensive tackle who can help right away? If they can’t, then who’s going to play right tackle? Maybe Mark Tauscher is back in the mix.”
