Re: New York Mets 2009 - Our Team, Our Time, Our Mets!
Maine dovrebbe esordire contro i Marlins... :gazza:

Re: New York Mets 2009 - Our Team, Our Time, Our Mets!
Mets catcher Schneider out indefinitely
Schneider was a late scratch from Wednesday's game after waking up with pain and stiffness behind and above his right knee. He underwent an MRI.
If Schneider isn't ready to start the season, backup catcher Ramon Castro likely would start at the position.
Six up n' six down.
--------
Livan taking the fifth as Mets starter
Livan Hernandez is on the verge of claiming the No. 5 spot in the Mets rotation, while team officials appear to be seriously weighing the release of pre-camp favorite Freddy Garcia, the New York Daily News reported.
Hernandez made his claim to the fifth-starter's role by limiting the Braves to one run on five hits while striking out three and walking none in a 58-pitch effort over five innings Wednesday. He ran his scoreless streak to eight innings before allowing an RBI single to Brandon Jones in the fifth in the Mets' 7-4 loss.
"I'll tell you what, he was pretty good today," manager Jerry Manuel said about Hernandez. "He has a good presence about him on the mound, in the dugout. It's like he brings a different energy for us. I would have to say he's put himself in a real good position."

Re: New York Mets 2009 - Our Team, Our Time, Our Mets!

Mets Will Bat OF David Murphy Second
Mets manager Jerry Manuel says that outfielder David Murphy will bat second in the team's batting order to begin this season.
"I'm confident that I can go out there and try to put a quality at-bat on them every time," said Murphy. "That's what my goal is. It's not numbers. It's not hits. It's not home runs. It's not doubles or RBI. It's quality at-bats."
New York used 10 different hitters at the No. 2 spot in 2008.

Will Bat OF David Murphy Second

"I was able to command my fastball. I was able to mix up my pitches and throw some sliders to lefties, so I think it was good," Santana said. "I think we're on the right track. We're on schedule to do everything as planned."

Re: New York Mets 2009 - Our Team, Our Time, Our Mets!
Mets manager Jerry Manuel plans to keep Jose Reyes in the leadoff spot this year and Daniel Murphy is likely to bat second, the Star-Ledger reported.
The decision on Reyes, one of the best leadoff hitters in baseball, puts aside talk of moving him down further in the lineup. And Murphy's position would move Luis Castillo down to the lower portion of the batting order.
More significant is Manuel's plan for Murphy, who continues his meteoric rise through the organization. Manuel said Castillo has had a good spring and could still bat second in some games, but he wants to get Murphy as many at-bats as possible.
"He looks like a good No. 2 hitter, a left-handed hitter that can do some things," Manuel told the newspaper. "I kind of like Murphy up there, but Luis has done a real good job there as well. We have some options there."
Meglio cosi, a parer mio.
