Nella prima edizione è toccato a Peter Moylan, che era uscito dall'"organized baseball" e ci è rientrato grazie alle prove del WBC con l'Australia.

Si parla di una possibile cessione di Matthews da parte degli Angels:

The Angels probably would love to trade outfielder Gary Matthews Jr., who seems fine after knee surgery, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The newspaper reported that the Angels would need to eat much of what's left of his five-year, $50 million contract. For now, he's an expensive fifth outfielder, and Matthews would be willing to drop his no-trade clause for a chance to play elsewhere.

Pedro Martinez reached out to the Royals recently, but was turned down because his $5 million asking price was too expensive, FoxSports.com reported.

The Royals instead signed Sidney Ponson, who was impressive pitching for the Netherlands during the World Baseball Classic.

Martinez contacted the Royals through two of the team's Dominican players, right fielder Jose Guillen and catcher Miguel Olivo. According to the report, Martinez's friend Manny Ramirez has suggested that the one-time ace consider dropping his asking price. Ramirez's team, the Dodgers, would likely be interested if the price fell to $1-2 million.

I Giants hanno ceduto il rilievo mancino Jack Taschner ai Phillies (che lo useranno per rimpiazzare J.C. Romero) in cambio del catcher Paulino, il quale è stato immediatamente girato ai Marlins per ricevere il prospetto RHP Hector Correa (Class A 6-2 with a 3.22 ERA in 11 starts).

wow, ma lo scmbio più importante è quello che ha portato Thigpen, stranamente, agli A's per un PTBNL (magari un Mazzaro qualunque

Ah pure qualcosa vi daranno? Io manco per quelle che in NBA vengono definite cash considerations l'avrei preso. Nelle minors l'anno passato ha fatto cose raccapriccianti.

Sembra che sia i Reds che i Phillies siano interessati a Gary Sheffield...

The Reds have interest in outfielder Gary Sheffield and there probably will be a meeting with him and/or his representatives in Sarasota, Florida, the Dayton Daily News reported.

The Philadelphia Daily News reported that Williams had a conversation with Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. and that Sheffield had not dismissed the idea of filling a role similar to the one the Phillies are searching for - a right-handed bat with some power to pinch-hit and fill in occasionally in the field.
