Questi i giocatori a roster al momento il cui contratto scadrà alla fine della prossima stagione:

OLB Parys Haralson, G David Baas, NT Aubrayo Franklin, CB Walt Harris, WR Isaac Bruce (who is considering retirement), WR Arnaz Battle, LB Jeff Ulbrich, S Mark Roman, K Joe Nedney, LS Brian Jennings, G Tony Wragge, CB Marcus Hudson, LB Ahmad Brooks and T Barry Sims.

In grassetto quelli che vorrei vedere rifirmati, magari ristrutturando adesso i loro contratti facendo in modo che, visto che per quest'anno ci dovrebbe rimanere diverso spazio libero sotto il cap, pesino di più quest'anno e meno i prossimi (roster bonus e giochetti simili, al massimo aassumiamo un commercialista dei redskins). Franklin dipende però anche dalle cifre che chiederà e da come si comporteranno quest'anno lui e Sopoaga. Nedney avanza con l'età ma finora il suo lo sta facendo, prima o poi però dovremmo pensare al futuro.

Hill cui andrebbero aggiunti Ziegler ed eventualmente un rookie da secondo giorno.

Per quanto riguarda la storia di TO mi sembra abbastanza simile a quella di Vick di qualche settimana fa; il fatto che non sia stato categoricamente un eventuale interesse viene interpretato come se fossimo fortemente interessati... Decisamente i giornalisti ci hanno ricamato parecchio, da questo punto di vista tutto il mondo è paese.

Comunque nel 2007 41 ricezioni sui terzi down (6° di lega) con 31 primi down convertiti  (7°). Ed è stata una sesta scelta.

Mi sto facendo sempre più le idee chiare su chi vorrei alla #10, questa la mia lista di priorità:

1) Smith /Raji
Impossibile che tutti e due siano disponibili alla nostra chiamata, difficile che rimanga anche uno solo ma se succede chi rimane tra Raji e Smith bisogna prenderlo senza pensarci un decimo di secondo.

2) Oher
Se è libero alla #10 ci pensarei un miliardo di volte prima di passarci sopra, prenderei anche lui al volo.

3) Orakpo
Brown sinceramente non mi entusiasma e come DE il ragazzo di origine nigeriane secondo me è il n°1.

Da qua in poi se tutti questi prima saranno già presi bisognerà  vedere chi rimane sulla board.

Movimenti nella DL: l'arrivo di Evans farà tornare Sopoaga nella sua posizione "naturale" di NT dove competerà con Franklin memtre Balmer, nostra prima scelta al draft dell'anno scorso, sarà invece il back up di Evens come left DE.

Quando tutti pensavano che avremmo cercato di accaparrarci un OT in free agency, sembra che invece l'unico altro acquisto cui siamo interessati sia un CB: dopo Green, passera' da noi anche Karl Paymah, ex Denver.

The 49ers will host another free-agent cornerback when Karl Paymah, most recently of the Denver Broncos, pays them a visit Wednesday. Paymah, 26, has been a popular guy of late. He visited the Ravens last week. He was in Tampa Bay today and will meet the Browns tomorrow. Another cornerback, Cardinals free agent Eric Green, was in Santa Clara on Friday. Green also has several suitors.

Paymah (6-0, 195) ran a 4.35 40 at the 2005 combine and was a third-round pick by the Broncos that year. His best season was 2007 when he beat out Dominique Foxworth for the role of nickel cornerback and started three games. Like the rest of the Broncos defense, Paymah struggled last season and the Denver pass defense finished 26th in the league.

According to Paymah's agent, Paymah specializes in press coverage. If you'll recall, the 49ers drafted Reggie Smith in the third round last season to be a physical corner who plays close to the line of scrimmage. The 49ers are looking for an heir to Walt Harris, who turns 35 in August.

Per quanto riguarda il discorso OT credo si sia deciso di prenderlo al draft e tutto sommato mi sembra una scelta giusta perché tra i FA fenomeni in giro non ce ne sono ed è forte il rischio di strapagare giocatori mediocri o poco più.

Alla fine credo che Hill sara' lo starter, ma sarei curioso di rivedere il bambino in campo

L'unica volta in cui ha sbroccato con i media e' stato quando ha avuto problemi con Nolan.

He will take part in the team's minicamp next week. He said he has not spoken to the training staff about his schedule, but he expects to be able to take part without any limitations. Smith has been throwing since shortly after the end of the season. Smith spent last season on injured reserve after sustained a small fracture in his throwing shoulder at the end of training camp.

La spalla dovrebbe essere a posto.

Several weeks ago, new 49ers offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye faxed Smith the fundamentals section of the playbook that deals with terminology and all the team's shifts and motions. Smith said there is some carryover from the systems the 49ers have utilized the past three seasons. The terminology in Raye's system most closely resembles Norv Turner's offense of 2006. Smith said.
