Ancora riconoscimenti per questa grande stagione!! 

Atlanta Falcons General Manager Thomas Dimitroff was named Sporting News magazine Executive of the Year. Dimitroff, along with Head Coach Mike Smith and quarterback Matt Ryan, became the first trio in the publication’s history to earn Executive of the Year, Coach of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors in the same season. Dimitroff was chosen for the annual award by a panel of 40 NFL coaches, general managers and personnel from around the league. Sporting News has been in existence for 132 years and has given out the annual Executive of the Year award since 1955.

Sicuramente la sua esperienza e le sue scelte (M.Turner,J.Elam ecc.. solo per dirne alcune) sono state basilari nella ricostruzione,speriamo che si mantenga l'andazzo anche anche per la prossima stagione magari con qualche altro colpaccio nella FA

Ted Bailey, chief forensics investigator for the Gwinnett County medical examiner, concluded that Dronett took his own life, but provided no further details.

Dronett, 38, was found dead Wednesday at his Atlanta-area home after police were summoned in response to a possible suicide.

"My prayers go out for [wife] Chris and her two daughters," said Dan Reeves, Dronett's former head coach with the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons. "You hate to lose anybody at any time, but when your kids are high school age or younger it makes it tough and it is tough for Chris."

Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Todd Weiner has announced his retirement from the National Football League. Weiner competed in the league for 11 seasons with the Falcons (2002-08) and Seattle Seahawks (1998-2001).

Dopo questo ultimo grande anno dove ha (piu' che degnamente) sostituito il promettente Baker e' giunto il difficile momento di appendere il casco al chiodo..

In attesa della combine sentiamo un po' di rumors direttamente dal GM Dimitroff

The Falcons have more focused needs entering this season's draft. Most experts have the team zeroing in on a versatile tight end, or opting for a defensive linemen with a first-round pick but there's also the matter of addressing depth at linebacker, cornerback and safety.

Ovviamente si e' sentita la mancanza di un TE di peso,piu' nello specifico di un TE dalle mani educate che possa fare da valvola di sfogo per Ryan (ne abbiamo gia' parlato nel corso della regular).
Siamo anche un po' strettini come DT (Anderson?  ) e come DE perche la mancanza di Abraham (quando capita) e' ancora troppo pesante.

Caso Vick:

E' sempre piu' vicina la possibilita' che il QB cinofilo torni a calcare i campi NFL..vedremo a casa di chi...

- Per Peele (TE) e' facile la strada dell'addio,le sue scarse doti di bloccatore non lo fanno amare molto da Mularkey e oltretutto probabilmente arrivera' un TE dal draft.

- Clabo e Dahl sono praticamente mezza OL e non credo ci sia da aggiungere altro...

Eccomi qua a fare un nuovo punto della situazione in questo brodo primordiale che e' l' FA..oltretutto sono costretto anche a fare retromarcia sulle dichiarazioni precedenti (addio Keith!!  )...

- E' ovvio che le secondarie dopo l'addio di Milloy e Foxworth attendono rinforzi..l'idea e' di prendere non piu' una Safety 'hard hitter' pura ma di cercare uno che puo' offrire garanzie in copertura (oltre che alle incursioni nel box)

- Per il discorso TE ci sono 2 filosofie (apparentemente contrastanti) la prima vuole che il nostro OC Mularkey  ami i 'bloccatori' e quindi prediliga la protezione lasciando le ricezioni ai WRs.
La seconda (che e' anche la mia) e' che a Ryan farebbero comodo due mani educate in piu' senza necessariemente farne un'obiettivo costante (vedi Witten) e quindi oltre allo stranominato Pettigrew si parla bene anche di Chase Coffman dal Missouri.

- Infine aggiorniamo la lista...

The report continues nearly week-long speculation the Falcons are interested in Smith, a tight end who has played the balance of his career in Philadelphia. Romberg, a center, played with the St. Louis Rams last season.

Effettivamente anche il nostro McClure non e' piu' un ragazzino.

Vedremo cosa succedera',se arriva LJ al draft andremo su un DT o su un LB...se no direi che Pettigrew non dobbiamo lasciarcelo scappare!

No,credo proprio che rimarremo alla 4-3...da quello che ho letto piace a Smith proprio per la sua versatilita'..posso supporre che nel caso sia utilizzato come DE opposto a Abraham per aumentare la pressione da quel lato (dove a dir del vero eravamo carenti) oppure vada a sostituire Brooking dando piu' ''aggressivita'' al reparto...

LJ Smith purtroppo è un bust. è uno che riesce ad iniziare bene una gara..ed uscire fuori dalla stessa improvvisamente in maniera impressionante. Ma esce che proprio non si vede più e risulta quasi dannoso. A questo aggiungi uno scarso sacrificio..è sempre fuori. I mezzi li avevi...ma li ha sprecati. Adesso non è più una scommessa, è uno che non ha mantenuto le promesse.

LJ potrebbe anche imbroccare l'anno buono ma non ci giocherei le braghe e come back-up Peele e' proprio una mezza sega (Justin..forgive me..),a tal proposito aggiungo un nome alla lista:Shaun Nelson da Southern Mississipi
