Siamo alle prese con i soliti problemi di scelte disponibili. Si parla quindi di una trade ipotetica per riavere la seconda e quarta scelta date via in passato, ed il giocatore più appetibile, secondo i "rumors" è Carlos Rogers. Spero sia solo una voce, perchè privarci dl nostro miglior CB sarebbe l'ennesima cazzata di una dirigenza con gravi problemi di sanità mentale.

E' comq problematico dover recuperare giocatori in difesa.D'accordo far spazio per il cap e per eta' dei citati giocatori, ma con solo quattro scelte al draft compensare le perdite sara' dura.senza contare che si parla poi di rookie che dovrebbero sostituire veterani consolidati. Anche con qualche trade il problema rimane. La difesa l'anno porossimo subira' una dura flessione in termini di prestazioni e impatto sulla gara. Ne avevamo bisogno porc..

Rayner played college football at Michigan State.

Dorsey, 5-7 and 170 pounds, spent the last three years as a return specialist and running back in the Canadian Football League. He played for Saskatchewan in 2006 and Toronto in 2007-08.

Dorsey was a CFL all-star with Toronto in 2008 and also earned the John Agro Special Teams Award as the league’s most outstanding special teams player.

Dorsey played college football at UNLV.

E' un articolo di qualche tempo fa del Washington Post. Per chi non lo avesse letto è veramente interessante l'analisi fatta sulle modalità di approcciare l'offseason.

Credo ci siano molti spunti interessanti, ma il confronto con il lavoro fatto dai Falcons e dai Ravens (punto centrale di tutta l'analisi) è abbastanza "impietoso".

Spiega molto bene in che condizioni siamo messi dal punto di vista dirigenziale. Cerrato è un imbecille che non sa che fare. Speriamo possa dimostrare il contrario. Con le linee guida, un piano stabilito e buona pazienza, cioè a lungo termine, io e dave faremmo decisamente meglio. :gazza:

Io vi ho sempre seguito poco (a livello di mosse di offseason), ma quell'articolo mi ha lasciato

La cosa che più mi fa specie di tutte è che sapevo sarebbe andata così. Le nostre mosse, specialmente della offseason 2004, hanno avuto conseguenze molto pesanti, e quando ho letto che avevamo preso Jason Taylor ho capito che non era cambiato niente. Non crediamo al draft, scegliamo poco e male, facciamo squadre con veterani che hanno uno o due anni di carriera rimasti e che il meglio l'hanno già dato. L'unica acquisizione decente degli ultimi anni è stato Portis, via trade, e devo dare credito alla dirigenza per aver pescato Cooley al quarto giro. Per il resto, meglio gettare un velo pietoso.

Uno degli obbiettivi a breve termine sembra quello di rinnovare DeAngelo Hall. Il che farebbe del nostro uno dei reparti più profondi e completi della lega, contando però sui problemi fisici di Springs e su un suo probabile taglio. Comunque il ragazzo vuole soldi, il nostro cap andrebbe inevitabilmente ad intasarsi impedendoci di lavorare sulle linee come si deve, dove c'è più bisogno.

Andre Carter e Randle El hanno accettato il ribasso del salario, ne sono venuti fuori 4.4 milioni salvati per il cap.

Marcus Washington e Jason Taylor saranno molto probabilmente tagliati.

Ryan Plackenmeier, il punter, è già stato invece tagliato. Mi domando se sarà il caso di fare un'offerta a Shane Lechler, che sarà free agent.

The Redskins have restructured contracts for defensive end Andre Carter and wide receiver Antwaan Randle El, saving the team a total of $4.4 million in salary cap room, the Washington Post reports.

Citing anonymous sources, Jason LaCanfora of the Post reports that Carter reduced his 2009 base salary from $2 million to $1.5 million, which saved the team a total of roughly $2.4 million.  And Randle El has saved the team $2 million against the cap after lowering his base salary to $1.5 million from a scheduled compensation of $4 million.

[Editor’s note:  Though the article from LaCanfora isn’t clear in this regard, we assume that the deals included giving the players a sizable chunk of money up front.]

Both players’ contracts are extended through 2015 and were originally set to expire after the 2012 season.

What’s the reason behind the financial transactions?  The Redskins are not in good cap shape, beginning this month about $5 million to $7 million over the 2009 salary cap, per the Post.

The Redskins are expected to release at least one high-profile veteran before February 27 when the free agent derby begins, and defensive end Jason Taylor and linebacker Marcus Washington have been mentioned as potential salary-cap casualties.

Meanwhile, the Redskins cut ineffective punter Ryan Plackemeier.  They signed punter Zac Atterberry after the season ended.

Firmato DeAngelo Hall per 6 anni e 55 milioni di dollari, il che ne farà di sicuro il nostro nuovo cornerback titolare, resta da scoprire al posto di chi. Lo scenario offre nuove direzioni per Carlos Rogers, di cui si è paventata la trade per acquisire un pò di scelte scialaquate in passato, e Shawn Springs, con una cifra che chiama 6 milioni per il 2009, dovrebbe essere tagliato al 99%.

In giornata si farà un giretto a Washington Chris Canty, free agent di Dallas, mentre la soluzione per il ruolo critico di guardia offensiva potrebbe vedere un inaspettato ritorno, quello di Derrick Dockery, che dopo il principesco contratto firmato con i Bills non è più stato all'altezza delle aspettative finendo per essere tagliato dagli stessi. Potrebbe essere una soluzione a lungo termine, cosa che nè Pete Kendall e nè Randy Thomas rappresentano.

Su Hall resto della mia idea, un grande cornerback ma non eccellente come lo si dipingeva. Fa grandi giocate senz'altro, ma ha delle giornate davvero incomprensibili. Speriamo quindi che sia cresciuto soprattutto mentalmente, e che sia finalmente un buon investimento da parte di questa franchigia troppo spendacciona.

Ah, dicono che siamo interessati ad Haynesworth. Qualora lo firmassimo davvero non credo che avremmo spazio per firmare le scelte dei prossimi due anni...meglio rifirmare Montgomery e Golston, dato che hanno fatto un ottimo lavoro nel mezzo della linea difensiva ed ora rischiano, a loro volta, di fuggire in altri lidi.

HAYNESWORTH TO THE ‘SKINS

Well, Lance Zierlein was right.  (Peter King, too.)
Multiple members of the media are reporting that defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has agreed to terms with the Washington Redskins.
The news comes from both Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean and Adam Schefter of NFL Network.
It’s a seven-year, $100-million deal with an incredible $41 million in guaranteed money.
The maximum value of the package is $115 million.
As we’ve previously said, the fact that the Titans and the Lions weren’t major players in the pursuit of Haynesworth tells us all we need to know; both teams have decided that Haynesworth isn’t worth the money.
Otherwise, the team with which Haynesworth spent seven seasons or his former defensive coordinator (who now is the head coach in Detroit) would have stepped up to the plate.
But maybe Haynesworth won’t go soft now that he no longer has to worry about money.  Maybe, as he recently said, he’ll be motivated to prove the naysayers wrong.
And maybe he won’t lose his cool and step on a guy’s unhelmeted head.
And maybe he won’t leave practice and come back with a pipe.  (Not a pipe for smoking crack, but a pipe for cracking skulls.)
And maybe he’ll learn how to obey all posted speed limits and not cause accidents that require 25-year-old kids to get hip replacements.
And maybe he’ll learn how to fly, without a plane.
And maybe the Redskins finally will learn that this isn’t the way to build a championship football team.

Non vorrei dire una cazzata, ma mi pare che Lechler abbia rifirmato per i Raiders un contrattino mica da ridere nelle settimane scorse Già troppe robe...non ci sto più dentro
