A: There may be. The CBA provides that the league has the unilateral right to keep or eliminate the rookie pool in the Final League Year.

Più o meno, perchè è sulla somma dei rookie e non sul singolo contratto. Specifico meglio: Each year, the NFL issues each team a total dollar figure representing the maximum cap space they are allowed to spend on signing draft picks and undrafted free agents. A team's rookie pool is based on the number and position of draft picks, with teams holding higher picks being allocated more dollars per pick than teams holding lower picks.

DECATUR, Ga.—A judge in DeKalb County, Ga., has denied a request by former pro football player Travis Henry for a temporary cut in child support payments for one of his nine children.
A hearing on whether the former Denver Broncos running back can still afford to pay $3,000 a month to the mother of his 5-year-old son lasted most of the day Thursday.

Henry's lawyer says the 30-year-old Henry can't afford the payments because he is no longer getting a paycheck from the National Football League and is in danger of going to prison on federal drug charges.

A lawyer for his son's mother argued Henry spent thousands on jewelry, cars, a new home and other items.

Henry was arrested in Colorado last fall on felony cocaine possession charges.

Varie news in giro per la lega:

Dolphins ILB Channing Crowder expects to hit the free agent market next week.
Reports out of Dolphins headquarters have consistently maintained that the team has little-to-no interest in re-signing their second leading tackler. Crowder can make more money on the open market.

The Browns have no intention of re-signing any of their 13 free agents, including SS Sean Jones, before they reach free agency.
Jones would immediately become one of the top safeties available, but Mangini wants to begin building through the draft and supplementing with more cost-effective free agents. Jones could still return if the price is right.

The Jets have informed RG Brandon Moore that he will be released shortly.
The move saves about $7 million in cap space, but the Jets now have to replace their best run blocker. Moore, 28, has started every game for the past four seasons and will be one of the most attractive guards available on the open market.

Eagles re-signed CB Joselio Hanson to a five-year, $21 million extension.
Hanson, who would certainly have drawn interest in free agency, receives $6.4M in guaranteed money.

Browns GM George Kokinis said Friday that the Browns are not actively trying to deal Derek Anderson and are willing to allow him to compete for the starting job.
This is posturing. The Browns want to trade Anderson but an admission would lower his trade value. The Bucs, Jets, and Vikings have been linked to Anderson, but a trade won't go down until after March 15.

GM Mike Reinfeldt said the Titans are currently negotiating with QB Chris Simms.
The Bears are also believed to be interested, but the Titans want to bring Simms back even if Kerry Collins does return.

Redskins released LB Marcus Washington.
The former Pro Bowler was rare excellent signing by Dan Snyder in 2004, but injuries sapped his effectiveness and speed the last two seasons. Going on 32 with chronic hip and leg issues, he's unlikely to find another starting job.

Titans have reportedly re-signed WR Justin McCareins to a one-year, $730,000 contract.

The Jets will release TE Chris Baker.
The Jets would like to re-sign Baker to a cheaper deal, but they weren't going to fork out $9M for his March 5 roster bonus. Baker will test the market before deciding whether to return to the Jets or not.

Smith, ha detto che Orton sarà il Quarterback che guiderà i Bears nella prossima stagione. Sempre a proposito di Quarterback titolare, non si è ancora deciso su chi tra Anderson e Quinn sarà il prossimo QB titolare in Ohio.

Crowder ha deciso che vedrà cosa gli verrà offerto dal mercato... mentre il GM dei Giants non fa affidamento al ritorno di Burress (trade?)

Mentre Ware ha dichiarato che dopo la partita contro i Ravens Ray Lewis gli ha detto che il prossimo anno vorrebbe giocare con quella stella sul casco? Ma prendersi Madden no?

Il nostro GM Dimitroff se non erro aveva espresso pareri lusinghieri su Haynesworth...ma credo che a quei parametri sia quasi intoccabile (o quantomeno spenderei piuttosto in altri reparti che la DL)

Lewis e Ware...uhm...sarebbe una figata...(lo dico in maniera del tutto puerile ed estemporanea)...

Si è deciso quando è stato assunto Brian Daboll come OC dato che installerà lo stesso sistema offensivo usato da Weis. DA ha un bonus roster di 5 M che scatterà il 15 marzo, che è un pò il nodo di tutta la questione, perchè se i Browns scambieranno il QB prima di quella data, la squadra che prenderà Anderson erediterà anche il bonus roster. Ammesso e concesso che ci sia una squadra interessata ad Anderson (Jets e Bucs hanno manifestato interesse...) la trade si completerà oltre il 15/3, il che consentirebbe alla squadra acquirente di spendere solo 1,5 M nel 2009 per DA.
