Alt was married to former New York Rangers player Ron Greschner from 1983 to 1996. As of November, 2008, the former couple is in court, with Alt suing her ex-husband with claims that he failed to divide the profits of an investment the couple made while still married[1]. In 1990 Carol was girlfriend of the brazilian driver Ayrton Senna, champion 3 times of Formula One Championship.
Alt is currently in a relationship with Russian ice hockey player Alexei Yashin, who is thirteen years her junior and played previously with the Ottawa Senators and the New York Islanders [2]. He is currently playing for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in Russia. In an interview with ESPN in 2006, Yashin stated he is not married to Alt and instead said they are in a committed relationship.[3]
