Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver said he thinks Favre may have played his last NFL game.
"I would love to have him come back this year, but, in my eyes, I think this season was his last year," Driver said. "I don't think I'll see him back next year. If he does, it would be great. But if not, then everyone knows he had to do things for his family."

.....speriamo di no; anche se ovviamente, come dice D.D. ne avrebbe tutti i motivi, ma per Green Bay sarebbe veramente dura l'anno prossimo! Pederson (invecchiato all'ombra di Favre, anzi, mi sa che è anche più vecchio), O' Sullivan, Nall (entrambi tutti da scoprire, ma non mi danno una gran fiducia....), insomma non c'è un possibile back-up che possa sostituirlo, forse se Couch, firmato l'anno scorso e poi tagliato, non avesse avuto tutti quei problemi alla spalla, avrebbe potuto essere la soluzione ideale (non sarebbe stato paragonabile al grande #4 ma comunque decisamente meglio, anche a livello di esperienza, di quello che abbiamo in casa).

The team cut left guard Mike Wahle to gain $11 million of cap room.

The team also cut center Grey Ruegamer, who filled in when Mike Flanagan went down with a season-ending knee injury in the first month of last season.

The Packers re-signed wide receiver/kick returner Antonio Chatman and defensive end R-Kal Truluck to one-year deals and they tendered offers to six restricted free agents: tackle Kevin Barry, running back Najeh Davenport, defensive end Aaron Kampman, linebacker Paris Lenon and quarterbacks Craig Nall and J.T. O'Sullivan.

Wahle was the Packers' starter at left guard for the last four seasons and played in 103 consecutive games. He helped the Packers establish franchise records in total net yards (6,357) and net passing yards (4,449), and its franchise low for sacks allowed (14).

But because of the way his contract was structured, his cap number for 2005 was a prohibitive $11.337 million, second only to quarterback Brett Favre.

Certo che essendo F.A. anche Rivera, che se Favre non dovesse proseguire, cambierebbe aria; la linea offensiva (uno dei nostri punti di forza) non è messa benissimo.

Story: Brett Favre To Return To Packers In 2005

Brett Favre is returning to the Green Bay Packers for the 2005 season.

Coach Mike Sherman told The AP on Thursday he had a two-hour conversation with his quarterback on Wednesday night. Favre informed him his wife, Deanna, is doing well in her cancer treatment, so he's planning to play at least one more season, maybe more if his own health holds up.
"It came down to his wife and she's doing well in her recovery," Sherman said. "She wants him to play. He said he's looking forward to playing -- hopefully without any off-the-field situations and 'enjoying the journey.'"
The three-time MVP said after the Packers' playoff loss to Minnesota in January he wanted to reflect before committing to playing a 15th NFL season following a year of personal tumult.

The Green Bay Packers Thursday terminated the contract of safety Darren Sharper and waived tight end Sparky Hamilton. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, made the announcement.

Finalmente qualche altra acquisizione: Arturo Freeman FS (Miami) e Earl Little FS (Cleveland): non due stelle ma hanno comunque una discreta esperienza, speriamo!
