Però a noi Swisher non lo avrebbero mai dato, dare uno così nella stessa divisione manco il Bavasi dei tempi migliori. L'occasione per prenderlo la abbiamo avuta lo scorso anno, lì si che abbiamo perso una buona occasione.

E poi comunque Gregg non mi piace!

We learned yesterday that the Diamondbacks offered Randy Johnson around $2-3MM, while he would've settled for $8MM. Now he's on the open market, and could be a bargain on a one-year deal. The Angels are not interested, but MLB.com's Ken Gurnick says Johnson is high on the Dodgers' list. This would be a fine way for Ned Colletti to kick off his offseason.

According to a report in the Washington Post, the Nationals envision themselves as serious players in the Mark Teixeira sweepstakes.

The Nats are believed to be preparing an offer they feel will be competitive with the others Teixeira is likely to receive. It would almost certainly be in the range of $100 million, if not $150 million.

"The plan hasn't changed," Nationals general manager Jim Bowden said of the team's general strategy for building a contender. "Building our franchise through scouting and player development, as well as trades for your players, is still our core strategy for how we're going to win. ... But we would be foolish to ignore using any source to make ourselves better, including free agency.

Meanwhile, ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney reports that the Angels have indicated to Teixeira's agent Scott Boras that they are prepared to handsomely pay Teixeira to keep him, and the guess-timates within the industry are that they're willing to sign the free agent to a deal for something in the range of $100 million to $120 million. But they've also indicated that their offer will soon expire; they do not intend to allow Boras to shop their offer around to the Red Sox, Yankees and Orioles.

Queste sono quelle che mi sono venute in mente al volo...

molto meglio così allora...ai tempi dell'arrivo di damon, seguivo a malapena i risultati, per cui non lo sapevo...
per betemit lo sapevo, ma infatti è stato scavalcato dal boss su arod...non mi ricordo che alternative ci fossero in 3b a parte lowell, che abbiamo visto cosa ha fatto quest'anno e che molti erano concordi nel non dargli un contratto "pesante" per farlo venire da noi...però questo non lo si saprà mai...anche perchè per prendere un 3b di livello, c'era da mettere mano alla farm, e se non lo si voleva fare per santana, farlo per un 3b sarebbe stato folle...

Much ink has been spilled on the possibility of the Braves acquiring Jake Peavy, but GM Frank Wren tabled that idea today. Wren has notified the Padres he's moving on to other pitchers to fill his rotation. A.J. Burnett, Derek Lowe, and Ryan Dempster are known to be targets.
