Sembra che l'operazione sia durata più del previsto e che il dottore (il famigerato Dr. Andrews) abbia trovato molto di più di quello che supponeva, ma ora sembra che il problema sia stato risolto...

Esercitata l'opzione su Jamie Carroll. A 2.5 milioni non è prorpio economico però meglio lui che gli ultimi Utility che abbiamo avuto. Ricordo ancora con ribrezzo i vari Inglett, Rouse, Vazquez e Gomez (il meno peggio forse).
Poi il fatto che abbia giocato, e bene, un po' di 3B forse ci potrebbe risparmiare il ritorno di Casey.

Come forse sapete quest'anno la Tribù torna in Arizona, al nuovissimo complesso di Goodyear (e speriamo sia di buon auspicio :D)

Because of the demands of next year's World Baseball Classic, spring training will be a week longer for all major-league teams, including the Indians.

Consequently, the Tribe will play 35 exhibition games as it opens its new complex in Goodyear, Ariz. The Cactus League schedule will open Feb. 25 with three consecutive games at the new 8,000-seat stadium in Goodyear. The Indians will play their final Arizona exhibition game April 2 and fly to Houston for games with the Astros April 3 and 4 before opening the regular season in Texas against the Rangers.

Cleveland's pitchers and catchers tentatively are scheduled to report to the club's $108 million complex Feb. 12. The club's first full-team workout is scheduled for Feb. 17.

The Indians trained in Tucson for 46 years before moving their spring training facility to Winter Haven, Fla., in 1993. Next year, the Cincinnati Reds will move in to share Goodyear's complex.

Interesse per il 3B (prima dell'arrivo di Gordon) di KC Teahen.
Si vocifera che nell'eventuale scambio possano essere inseriti Gutierrez o Ben Francisco oppure Crowe.

Se gli diamo Gutz va bene, gli altri, secondo me, potrebbero avere più valore in altre trade.
Anche se io Ben Francisco non lo cederei e Crowe, prima di cederlo, vorrei vedere che sa fare.

Io resto dell'avviso che la soluzione ideale sarebbe quella di prendere un 2B e spostare gli altri di conseguenza (Asbrubale in SS e Jhonny in 3B).

mah...si battono tutte le piste, però i big FA sono al di fuori della nostra portata economica e tutto sommato l'anno scorso Jensen Lewis ha fatto molto bene quando è stato promosso a closer.

La prima possibilità è quella di restare con Jensen Lewis.
La seconda soluzione è quella di provare a dare un contratto ad incentivi (e prestazioni) a Isringhausen.
La terza è quella di una trade per arrivare a Huston Street o Gregg, ma mi sembra la meno papabile.

Io resto dell'opinione che il closer te lo devi fare in casa. Nella farm abbiamo gente come Jeff Stevens, Tony Sipp e addirittura Adam Miller che possono essere utilizzati da closer.
Secondo me si cercherà sicuramente qualcuno che possa aiutare il bullpen (tipo 7 o 8 inning) ma alla fin fine il closer lo farà Jensen Lewis.

Anthony Castrovince did a nice piece on right-hander Adam Miller this week on Indians.com. To summarize the article, Miller's stat line in the Dominican Republic so far (1-1, 6.48 ERA, 16.2 IP, 17 H, 4 BB, 12 K) is better than it looks and he is up to 97 MPH consistently. According to Farm Director Ross Atkins, Miller is set to get two to three more starts then will move to the bullpen out there for the remainder of his time before he comes home around Thanksgiving.

The Indians have officially committed to Miller in the bullpen next year, and that is where he will pitch from the outset of spring training. While he will be a longshot to win a job in Cleveland when camp breaks, it is likely he will be in Cleveland at some point next year provided he is healthy. This is good news though, and It is about time the Indians made this move which was long overdue. Miller has closing stuff, and is someone who could fill that role next year in Cleveland by season's end.

After seeing the success that the Cubs had with Kerry Wood in converting the oft-injured starter into a closer, the Indians obviously took notice and probably see Miller in much the same vein as Wood from a talent and medical perspective. Down the road Miller could move back to the rotation, but right now he impacts the Cleveland Indians the best in 2009 pitching out of the bullpen. This is going to be one of the top storylines to follow next spring and during the season. Just stay healthy Adam.

Speriamo che gli infortuni calino e che diventi il nostro closer in prospettiva.
Le potenzialità le ha, la stuff anche.

Comunque prima di fine giugno non azzarderei nessuna previsione.

Già, anche perchè siamo in corsa per Hoffman e pare che i Rockies vogliano girare Street. Mi chiedo, dovessimo firmare un veterano, quale sarà il ruolo di Lewis considerato che Perez e Betancourt sono intoccabili per 7th e 8th inning? :gazza:

Se firmassimo un closer veterano le soluzioni diventerebbero due:
1) Perez fa il LOOGY e sarebbe una stupidaggine immensa. Anche perchè per quel ruolo abbiamo eventualmente Rundels.
2) Lewis viene spostato alla pari di Perez e Betancourt in modo da avere tre uomini (quattro con Masa) per gli inning finali e così eviteremmo di trovarci a giugno con il bullpen spaccato ed avremmo una bella assicurazione contro infortuni e prestazioni scarse.

Sono prorpio curioso di vedere che combinano.
Fermo restando che le priorità sono:
a) Un Infielder, possibilmente un 2B.
b) Un buon partente da inserire al numero tre di rotazione a fare da ponte tra gli affermati Lee e Carmona ed i giovani Reyes, Huff, Laffey, Sowers, Zach Jackson, Scott Lewis.
c) Bullpen help.

Il mercato non offre molto, però le trade si. Abbiamo in Shoppach un catcher spendibile e di valore vista sia la penuria di C sia il rendimento dello scorso anno. Abbiamo un esercito di giovani SP mancini e abbiamo alcuni giovani OF di valore (Crowe/Francisco/Gutierrez).

Insomma i giocatori da tradare li abbiamo ,adesso bisogna veder cosa riuscirà a fare Shapiro, il quale di solito è molto bravo a scovare giovani talenti per veterani (vedi Grady, Lee, Asdrubale e C. Santana) però quando si tratta di trade di giocatori di livello MLB non ha mai fatto scintille, anzi.
