IRVING, Texas - On the eve of their training camp report date, the Cowboys agreed to terms with fourth-round pick Tashard Choice and also appear close to reaching an agreement with second-round pick Martellus Bennett, possibly before Thursday's departure to Oxnard, Calif.

Coming to terms with Bennett would leave only first-round picks Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins unsigned, and the team hopes to have both players signed in time for Friday's opening camp practice at 2:15 p.m. (PDT).

The last time the Cowboys had two first-rounders in the same class was 2005, when DeMarcus Ware and Marcus Spears each missed the start of camp because of ongoing negotiations. Jones (22nd overall) and Jenkins (25th) have the same agent, Eugene Parker, which could accelerate the contract talks.

The Cowboys also agreed to a four-year deal with sixth-round pick Erik Walden on Tuesday night, and fifth-rounder Orlando Scandrick officially signed on Wednesday.

Choice will compete with Jones for carries behind Pro Bowl running back Marion Barber, the team's unquestioned starter now that Julius Jones has left for the Seahawks via free agency. Bennett, an All-Big 12 tight end at Texas A&M, is expected to replace Anthony Fasano as Jason Witten's complement in two-tight end sets.

The team is scheduled to arrive in Oxnard on Thursday, with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and head coach Wade Phillips addressing the media later in the afternoon.

Came across below info on Blue&Silver Report by Raphael Vela. Posting below cause I haven't seen it posted anywhere else. Sorry if this a repost.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys and WR Terry Glenn may resolve his situation today, either finding a common ground that will keep the veteran on the roster or release him.

I was put on alert yesterday that news could be forthcoming shortly but the team and Glenn clearly could not work something out. I was told by a source that “Glenn is better than any player available on the street,” suggesting that anybody pining for a Jeremy Shockey-like trade to fill the Cowboys #2 spot will be sorely disappointed

However terry said the decision is solely up to Jerry Jones.

Ed said that people inside the organization have urged Jerry to move on and release terry but jerry is reluctant to right now.

Jerry is afraid to not have a veteran on the roster if owens gets hurt.

As of 10 minutes ago Jerry still has not made up his mind.

ecco un'opinione che condivido:

am sorry but I do not get it. That happens all the time in football. Players get hurt after the first game or even in pre-season and the team keeps them on the roster and they collect thier pay for the year. I mean it happens every single year to someone.

And very rarely are they asked the next year to sign a waiver. I do not see why Glenn is an exception to the standard. And why we are *****ing over 1.7 mill when even counting that we are like 10 mil under the cap.

With rookies getting around 10 mil a year. When they have not even proven themselves. And 30-40 million garaunteed. Why are people so crazy over this. We are betting 1.7 million Glenn can come and be productive after an injury. The same guy who has PROVEN to have elite speed and great hands. Yet other teams are paying 5-10 mill for a guy who has never done anything. I would be *****ing about that not the Glenn situation.

They are not closing the door on the possibility that he will rejoin the team down the road, but they don't want to risk him reinjuring the knee while rehabbing on their dime. Glenn will also be free to sign with another team. Much more to come.
