Giusto perche' c'e' una notizia che mi interessa approfondire.. senno' questo topic sarebbe stato vittima di censura considerato che siamo ancora ad Aprile!

Highly touted Swedish prospect Fabian Brunnstrom is closing in on becoming a Vancouver Canuck.

The Canucks and Brunnstrom's agent JP Barry are hoping to have something finalized within the next week to ten days as the process has heated up over the last few days.

The 23 year old Brunnstrom recently finished his rookie season with Farjestad of the Swedish Elite league, so Barry is ironing out the legalities as defined by an out clause in Brunnstrom's existing contract with the Swedish club.

Brunnstrom's NHL agreement will be at least two years and it's believed his compensation will reflect that of a top four draft pick, meaning he'll command at least $2 million per year when he signs.

Upwards of 20 NHL teams expressed interest in the talented forward over the course of the season, with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings considered the top contenders before Brunnstrom narrowed the field recently to the Canucks and Red Wings.

Vancouver was the first team to show interest in Brunnstrom last November and have been among the most thorough and quietly aggressive since.

Sources say Brunnstrom feels very comfortable with the direction of the Canucks and has a keen interest in playing alongside fellow countrymen, Daniel and Henrik Sedin in addition to being touted a good fit in Vancouver's top six.

So che e' un play, ho visto alcuni video e cmq mi pare un po' acerbo per la NHL.. qualcuno (svizzero?) ha qualche notizia in piu' ?

Io perchè dovrei saperne qualcosa?! Bure ne sa sicuramente di più.

Comunque i numeri ci sono e sono medio-alti per il campionato svedese (sebbene i numeri europei in genere abbiano poco valore in ottica nhl), il talento sembra esserci (come visione di gioco, tecnica, pattinaggio e corporatura), ma dalle voci provenienti dalla Svezia che mi è capitato di leggere non dovrebbe essere pronto per la nhl (alcuni lo ritengono sopravvalutato). Ho scritto cose che sapevi già o che potevi trovare da solo, mi sa.:paper:

Boh. Non mel'aspettavo.. specialmente adesso. Con tutti gli infortuni che abbiamo avuto quest'anno se la squadra e' rimasta in corsa era grazie al lavoro che ha fatto Nonis sulla difesa che ha potuto schierare giocatori decenti anche quando dal #1 al #6 erano infortunati. Non ha fatto nulla alla deadline.. ok. Ma che poteva fare? prendere l'ennesimo quick fix come nell'era Burke (mi viene in mente Rucinsky su tutti) che poi si rivela una busta, una 2nd rounder in meno e a lungo andare una lista di prospetti che fra i primi 2 vede Brandon Reid e Jason King (appunto, chi?). Per Richards l'offerta era legittima e la migliore sul tavolo, Tampa ha deciso di accettare quella di Dallas dato che gli offrivano un portiere pronto per giocare in NHL e non un prospetto che sarebbe diventato piu' forte ma ha ancora bisogno di almeno 1 o 2 anni in AHL. Per Jokinen chiedevano i gemelli.. certo, ti sto per dare due giocatori da 80 punti l'uno per uno che finisce l'anno a -29!
Negli ultimi due anni Nonis ha gettato le fondamenta del suo piano.. partendo da un portiere, dando una profondita' a questa franchigia (Raymond, Shannon, Bourdon, Edler, Hansen, Shirokov, Rahimi, Simek, White etc etc non sono apparsi dal nulla), ha creato una difesa di 8 uomini e ha fatto quello che poteva per l'attacco, che e' vincolato da contratti che finiscono questa off-season (Naslund, Morrison). Quest'anno sarebbe arrivato il turno dell'attacco, ma ora non lo sapremo mai.
Secondo me, paga il fatto di aver sprecato un anno seguendo il lavoro di Burke e il non aver fatto nulla alla deadline, ma veramente c'era ben poco da fare dato che i Canucks non hanno gli Esposito da dare via per accaparrarsi Hossa.

Ora si riparte, chi arrivera' avra' in dote una franchigia coi controcoglioni a cui mancano solo alcuni pezzi. Pat Quinn? Certo.. Cliff Ronning, Trevor Linden, Pavel Bure, Kirk McLean e poi torniamo nel 1994 e siamo tutti felici e contenti. E senza coppa.

Entro nel gruppo dei ragazzi dell'off-season.
A Ottawa qualcosa deve succedere, per forza, dopo quest'annata assurda.
Come ho letto anche in giro i punti focali sono:
1) Emery se ne andrà, e se nessuno lo vuole (probabile?) verrà tagliato...:buyout:
2) Redden non credo sarà rinnovato, e si fa spazio nel salary cap ma fa un buco nella difesa (gia' a pezzi) sebbene per molti il buon Wade sia sopravvalutato. Puo' essere, quest'anno dietro non c'e' nessuno da salvare cmq :gazza:
3) Altri contratti in scadenza, o rinnovi vari (credo sia il momento migliore visto che tanti giocatori non sono propriamente in posizione di forza

) e altri saranno lasciati credo (LaPointe, Donovan...Chris Kelly, Cory Stillman io li terrei dipende a quanto).
4) Con tutta la simpatia per Gerber, oltre a rafforzare la difesa, io punterei ad ottenere un goalie piu' solido (se si vuole andare da qualche parte). A tale proposito, leggevo su ESPN della bomba di Mosca (non la capitale

5) comunque tutto sarà deciso dopo l'avvento del nuovo coach (si parla di Bob Hartley) e speriamo bene :D

Flames sign 18-year-old centre Mikael Backlund to contract

CALGARY — The Calgary Flames signed first-round draft pick Mikael Backlund to a contract Friday.

The six-foot, 194-pounder was selected with the 24th overall pick of the 2007 NHL entry draft.

“Mikael is one of the best 18-year old centres in the world and we are pleased that we have been able to retain him under contract,” Flames GM Darryl Sutter said in a release. “He demonstrated at the world junior championships that he is in an elite class.”

Backlund, who played for Vasteras in his native Sweden this season, had three goals and four assists at the 2008 world junior tournament. Sweden settled for silver after losing to Canada in the final.

secondo tsn Nonis è stato contattato da Toronto per prendere le rendini di un'altra franchigia canadese..ma qui la ricostruzione si prospetta molto più dura di quella precedente a Vancouver..

Ottima scelta per quel tipo di giocatore. A Dallas ci sono tre C di grande talento in Ribeiro, Richards e Modano. Potra' affiancarsi a chiunque e avere un periodo di transizione poco frustrante. Era un investimento da fare essendo praticamente un giocatore a costo zero, con un cap hit di circa 2 milioni se ti va bene e diventa un buon giocatore da NHL e la possibilita' di andare in AHL se non si rivela in grado. Peccato esserselo fatto scappare dato che le basi del progetto le aveva fondate Nonis che e' stato silurato poche settimane prima di firmare l'accordo e Gillis non ha avuto abbastanza tempo per parlarci. Non che un altro playmaker fosse cio' che serve ai Canucks, ma il talento non e' mai troppo poco e c'era la possibilita' di accapparrarsi un possibile grande talento con pochi rischi.
