Elam taking trip to Iraq
Shortly after being invited to be part of an NFL contingent to spend the Super Bowl in Iraq with U.S. military troops, Broncos kicker Jason Elam phoned his brother, Mark, a U.S. Army lieutenant colonel who recently ended a long tour in the war zone.
"This is close to me," said Elam, 37. "My brother spent time there, and I'm just a big supporter of our troops. My brother told me that it would be a great experience, and that the troops really enjoy when people come over there to lift their spirits."
So, off Elam will go.

Lynch going to Pro Bowl
John Lynch is making it a perfect 4-for-4 in Pro Bowl appearances while with the Broncos.
Because of an injury to Colts safety Bob Sanders, the NFL defensive player of the year, Lynch was named to the AFC Pro Bowl team Tuesday.
Lynch was the first alternate when the voting was announced in December. Lynch, 36, has been named to nine Pro Bowls, second most for a safety in NFL history. Ken Houston made 10 consecutive Pro Bowls from 1970-79. Lynch's ninth Pro Bowl could go a long way in helping him enter the Hall of Fame.
The Feb. 10 game in Honolulu could be Lynch's last. He is considering retirement, although there is a growing sentiment at Dove Valley he will return for his 16th NFL season. Lynch has been with Denver since 2004.
