NFL to return to the United Kingdom in 2008
National Football League
The NFL is heading back across the pond.
After playing a highly successful game in London last October, the NFL announced that it would return to the United Kingdom for a regular-season game in 2008 as part of the NFL’s International Series of regular-season games.
“The game in London was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the entire 2007 season,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “The fan interest was tremendous. The passion they demonstrated for our sport that day continued throughout the season, as television viewership in the U.K. has grown by 40 percent since the game. We had an overwhelmingly positive response to the event from all involved – the teams, our sponsors and business partners and of course the fans themselves. We look forward to another spectacular event in 2008.”
Details about the game -– including the venue and competing teams -– are expected to be confirmed during Super Bowl week (Jan. 28-Feb. 3) in Arizona.

Heimerdinger Leaves for Titans
Assistant head coach/quarterbacks Mike Heimerdinger is headed back to Tennessee.
The Titans hired Heimerdinger as their offensive coordinator on Thursday, one day after Head Coach Mike Shanahan gave Heimerdinger permission to interview with the Titans for the staff vacancy created by their dismissal of Norm Chow.
“Mike was at the top of my list and we are fortunate he was available to come back,” Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said. “We know each other very well and he is without a doubt the right person to help the offense take the next step.”

Re: NFL Season 2K7
ST. LOUIS –- Georgia Frontiere, owner of the National Football League’s St. Louis Rams, passed away in Los Angeles on Friday. She had been hospitalized for several months with breast cancer.
Frontiere, 80, was principal owner of the Rams since inheriting the team from her husband Carroll Rosenbloom in 1979. Georgia was one of the few active female owners of a major professional franchise. She is survived by two children, son Dale (Chip) Rosenbloom and daughter Lucia Rodriguez, six grandchildren, and Earle Weatherwax, her companion of 19 years.
Under Georgia’s ownership the Rams were based in Los Angeles from 1979 until 1995, when Frontiere relocated the franchise to St. Louis, her hometown. The St. Louis Rams were Super Bowl champions in the 1999 season and NFC champions in the 2001 season.
Statement from Georgia’s daughter, Lucia Rodriguez, and son, filmmaker Chip Rosenbloom:
"Our mom was a beautiful person who lived an extraordinary life. She put up a courageous and brave fight. Thanks to her doctors and her spirit we were blessed with more time with her than expected.
"Our mom was dedicated to being more than the owner of a football team. She loved the Rams’ players, coaches, and staff. The warmth and generosity she exuded will never be forgotten.
"She will be missed by those who loved her and will be remembered as a kind and generous person. We will love her forever."
Statement from John Shaw, President of the Rams:
"It’s been my privilege for twenty-eight years to work for a loyal, generous, and supportive owner who was totally committed to her football team. This is an enormous loss for me and for the Rams’ organization. All of our prayers and sympathy go out to her family."

Dana Stubblefield, a former defensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers walked into a San Francisco federal courtroom this morning and pleaded guilty to a felony charge of lying to federal agents about using performance-enhancing drugs in connection with the Balco steroids scandal.
The charge, which is set out in a three-page document unsealed today, includes one count of lying to lead Balco investigator Jeff Novitzky in November 2003 about receiving "the clear" and EPO, a blood-boosting drug, from the laboratory.
Stubblefield, accompanied by Palo Alto attorney Michael Armstrong, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Susan Illston today. Under a plea deal, Stubblefield faces up to six months in prison.
Earlier today, he appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Laporte for his arraignment. Following procedure in federal court, he pleaded not guilty before Laporte, a plea he withdrew when he appeared before Illston.
Both he and his attorney declined to comment outside the courtroom.
The government alleges that Stubblefield lied about receiving performance-enhancing drugs from Balco president Victor Conte, just three days after the National Football League notified him that he had tested positive for THG, known as "the clear," a steroid. Stubblefield was suspended for four games as a result of the test.

The Tush and The Bush are starting to get so lovey dovey in public it's getting a little cheesy, but at least they believe in safe sex! Chicka-chicka-wow-wow!
The pair took pictures in the Lifestyles Make-Out Booth at Sundance -- which actually distributes a row of condoms with each photo! Yup, you just can't make this stuff up.
