Come fai a dire di no?  :fischia:

There is nothing new to report on offensive coordinator candidates. I'll keep you posted as news becomes available.

My suggestion would have been that the 49ers offer whatever it takes to get Cam Cameron right here, right now. Don't even bring him in for an interview. Just get him. I seriously doubt that is happening.

But I have no reason to believe that Cameron is not high on the 49ers' wish list. I don't know Cameron's plans. He was reportedly under contract with the Dolphins through 2010 at $2.75 million a year. Bill Parcells fired him earlier today.

The 49ers were going to pay Norv Turner a little over $1 million had he remained as offensive coordinator for a second year. The best way for Cameron to get back on the radar screen of head-coaching candidates is to do a good job as a coordinator in 2008. But it might take him at least a couple years to restore his stock after a 1-15 record as the head man in Miami.

Nolan has to put together an offensive staff that includes a coordinator-in-waiting. If the guy he hires in the next couple weeks leaves for a head-coaching job, the 49ers should not have to go outside to get somebody qualified to replace him.

It does not seem former Rams head coach Mike Martz, fired as Lions offensive coordinator this week, is being seriously considered. McCloughan went on record as saying there's no truth to the rumor the 49ers are interested.

The 49ers made their first roster move of the offseason. The club on Wednesday signed WR Jerard Rabb (Boise State) to a futures contract for the 2008 season. (Nolan announced on KNBR that they also re-signed QB Drew Olson.)

UPDATE (7:55 p.m.): The 49ers signed RB Thomas Clayton, WR Dominique Zeigler and DB Markus Curry to future contracts.

Altri possibili candidati

Chan Gailey - He was fired by Georgia Tech after the season, after never losing over five games in one seasons with Tech. Athletic Director Dan Radakovich said Gailey had lost the fan base and didn't excite influential alumni despite his success, which included a string of bowl game appearances. The former Cowboys coach has been a coordinator for the Dolphins and Broncos and is adherent of a balanced approach, which includes a strong running game. He and Nolan coached in Denver at the same time in the late 1980's.

Bill Callahan - The former Raiders head coach failed in a football powerhouse Nebraska and was fired. After taking the Oakland to the Super in succeeding the popular Jon Gruden, Callahan was run out of Oakland after alienating and blaming players for the team's collapse after the Super Bowl season of 2002. In that season, the Raiders led the league in passing and total offense. The one-time offensive line coach is also known for coaching pass protection. The Raiders set marks in fewest sacks (27) in 2000 and (28) in 2002 when Callahan was the offensive coordinator.

Marty Mornhinweg - This won't happen. Mornhinweg is already the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator for the Eagles and probably wouldn't leave that job to coach for Mike Nolan. Nevertheless, Mornhinweg disastrous experience as the Lions head coach shouldn't marr his excellence as a offensive play caller. Steve Young calls him the best game-day offensive coordinator around, right up there with Mike Shanahan. Morhninweg also helped develop Jeff Garcia when he coordinated the 49ers' offense from 1997-2000.

Jim Fassel - He was with Nolan in Baltimore as an offensive consultant. Fassel has done some great resurrecting over the years, including guiding the Giants to the Super Bowl with Kerry Collins at quarterback in 2000 after a 7-9 season in 1999. His last reclaimation project - trying to revive the Ravens offense in 2004-5 - failed. He has been out of football for two years and served as a NFL commentator on radio. He's an adherent of the West Coast offense.

-Defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga, one of the team's few unrestricted free agents, said he wants to return to the team. "I had a meeting with Mike Nolan and he said he wants me back," Sopoaga said. Sopoaga plans to dicuss contract with his agent tonight.

Compiti per le vacanze per McNolan

http://www.49erswebzone.com/content/new ... p?id=12849

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Free Agents:

Unrestricted: G Larry Allen, DE Marques Douglas, T Kwame Harris, RB Maurice Hicks, QB Shaun Hill, G Justin Smiley (injured reserve), NT Isaac Sopoaga, CB Donald Strickland, DE Bryant Young (retiring).

Restricted: TE Billy Bajema, CB B.J. Tucker (injured reserve).

Sopoaga e Hill dovrebbero essre rifirmati, probabilmente anche Hicks; Smiley no, cosi' come credo anche Allen. Spero riescano a tenere Douglas.

Intanto primo candidato ufficiale:

Former Dallas Cowboys and Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey will be interviewed first for the 49ers' vacant offensive coordinator position. The 49ers are looking to fill the position after firing Jim Hostler earlier in the week.

Gailey, who turns 56 tomorrow, was fired as Georgia Tech coach on Nov. 26. He spent six seasons with the Yellowjackets, compiling a 44-32 record.

Gailey was last an NFL offensive coordinator for the 2000 and '01 seasons with the Miami Dolphins. He was head coach of the Cowboys in 1998 and '99, where he had a 18-14 record in two seasons before getting fired. Prior to that, Gailey was the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive coordinator in 1996 and '97.

Niners coach Mike Nolan and Chan Gailey worked together on the Denver Broncos' coaching staff in 1987. Gailey has 16 years in professional football.

While Gailey was with the Dolphins, their offenses ranked 26th and 21st in the league in total yards. The Steelers were ranked 15th in '96 and sixth in 1997 under Gailey's direction.

He is the first known candidate to emerge, though Nolan said on his KNBR radio show yesterday that Cam Cameron, Brian Billick and Mike Martz were also candidates. GM Scot McCloughan is on record as saying Martz is not a serious candidate.

* * *

Nolan was with the Broncos from 1987 to '92 as special teams and linebackers coach under Dan Reeves.

Gailey with with the Broncos from 1985 to '90. He was defensive assistant and special teams in '85, special teams and tight ends in '86-87, QB coach in '88; and offensive coordinator and WR coach '89 and '90. In 1991, he went to the Birmingham Fire of the World League of American Football.

Willis earned 48 votes Friday from a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the NFL. Only Carolina linebacker Jon Beason, with two, also received votes.

Contrariamente a quanto sembrava:

The 49ers have agreed to coach in the Senior Bowl once again, a 49ers team spokesman said. The 49ers will coach the South all-stars for the week of practice and the game, which is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26, in Mobile, Ala.

Bene.
