Quarterback Alex Smith apologized in front of his teammates during a team meeting Wednesday morning for creating a distraction, as he blasted 49ers coach Mike Nolan in a newspaper interview earlier this week.

Smith met with Nolan for about an hour Tuesday after a published report in MediaNews in which he was quoted as saying Nolan tried to undermine him with his comments to the team.

However, Smith and Nolan did not discuss those comments, Nolan said Wednesday.

"He didn't make those statements (Tuesday) to me," Nolan said. "He didn't tell me that's how he felt."

Nolan said he made an example of Smith in a team "accountability" meeting to emphasize that the head coach should be informed if a player believes he is hurt too much to play. Nolan said players are singled out all the time in meetings, mostly to discuss mistakes in a game. Smith made the mistake, Nolan said, of revealing his injury to the media before discussing it with him.

Smith is scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery today. Dr. James Andrews will perform the surgery in Birningham, Ala.

Nolan said he believes he has supported Smith this season, but he was holding him accountable in a meeting just like everyone else.

"Believe me, you'll lose the other 52 guys if you protect one guy all the time," Nolan said.

The 49ers have been outscored by 148 points in the first half this season. It's the worst scoring margin in the first half since . . . well, since the 49ers were outscored 261-113 last season. :lol2:

The past two seasons the 49ers have ranked among the worst first-half teams in the NFL since the 1970 merger, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The 2000 Arizona Cardinals were outscored by 166 points (244-78). The worst first-half team since the merger was the 1990 Cleveland Browns, who were outscored by 200 points (289-89).

Willis vale Urlacher, forse più forte nei tackle. Visione, copertura del campo, letture. Magari più fisico.

Beason è forte ma devo vederlo bene ancora.

Ho comprato l'ultimo CD dei NOFX, un live. All'interno, in una sorta di diario della band dei tre giorni che ruotano intorno allo show, una foto di Fat Mike (il cantante) con "center for the 49ers talks to me about football" scattata alle due meno un quarto di notte durante il party post concerto. Ha una birra in mano e la faccia da sbronzo, a occhio si tratta di Heitmann, il titolare. Poi non vi lamentate se le cose vanno male, avete gente che si sbronza ai concerti punk eccheccazzo!

Comunque già idolo: fan dei NOFX e sicuramente uomo più temuto in un pogo sotto al palco. He loves beer too.

Vabbè, intanto stanotte inutilr partita contro i Bengals con Shuan Hill all'esordio da titolare dopo sei anni di anticamera.

E' sabato, posso tranquillamente vedere la partita in diretta, al massimo la posso registrare e vedere la domenica mattina...ieri notte non andava la rete...:roll:.....per fortuna che il risveglio è stato dolce.
Ho visto solo gli HL e letto qualcosina: Hill mi ha sorpreso, o meglio mi ha sorpreso il fatto che siamo riusciti a sfruttare le sue doti così bene (ha un rilascio veloce della palla, è mobile, l'infortunio al pollice non gli permette di lanciare lungo però): lanci medi o brevi (più lungo completo di 19 yards) e veloci, d'altronde non puoi chiedere ad uno che è alla prima partenza da titolare in carriera di fare letture complicate...Comunque mi è sembrato di capire attacco concreto (il migliore della stagione probabilmente) e difesa solida che ha concesso pochissimo (solo un errore di posizione di Lewis ha concesso il TD da 52 yards). Che questa prestazione sia frutto anche di tutto quello successo in settimana?

Riguardo al quarto down giocato....è tutta colpa di Larry Allen:

Mentre BYha praticamente confermato che sta arrivando il momento dell'addio:

Bryant Young, certainly one of the most respected players to grace the 49ers' locker room, said he would be sure to let 49ers fans know before next week's game so there can be a proper send-off.

It appears as if the 49ers' game next week against the Buccaneers will be the final chance to see Young put on No. 97 and play a home game.

He spoke tonight like a man who plans to retire. In fact, he came real close to announcing it after the game.

Then, he decided against it. Young said he has not made up his mind, 100 percent, but he sure sounded like a man who has decided he will not be back in 2008.

"It's tough, man," Young said. "It seems like the last few weeks I have really been thinking about my future and really listening to my body and thinking if this is the right time to walk away.

"I'll just say . . . it's nearing the end. My days are numbered. I'm just trying to enjoy it if this is my last year and the last moments of being a Niner."

Anche io ho visto solo gli highlights ma è stato davvero un bel vedere, Hill ha confermato la buona impressione che aveva fatto domenica scorsa anche se una partita e poco più è un po' poco per giudicarlo. Sarà ovviamente lo starter nelle ultime due partite e se dovesse confermarsi su questi livelli credo si aprirebbe una bella qb controversy per l'anno prossimo.

Ottima prova anche di Gore, direi bene anche Vernon Davis e finanche D-Jax.
