The Miami Herald reports Sean Taylor may have suffered damage to his brain as a result of blood loss after being shot Sunday night.
Lawyer and friend of the Taylor family Richard Sharpstein confirms that the Redskins' free safety emerged from surgery at 12:30 ET, but remains unconscious and in intensive care.
A week before Washington Redskins player Sean Taylor was shot in his Palmetto Bay house, a burglar broke in, rifled through his things, and left a knife on a bed inside his house, according to police records.
Eight days later, noises in the dark spooked Taylor and his girlfriend. It turned out to be their worst nightmare.

Attorney and friend of the family Richard Sharpstein said Monday afternoon that Redskins S Sean Taylor's life is currently "hanging in the balance."
Sharpstein says that Taylor, who came out of surgery just after noon, called the player "nonresponsive and unconscious" and says doctors are "worried about a possible brain injury or death." He added that Taylor may have lost oxygen to the brain. "They're waiting to see if he comes to," Sharptein said.
Forza Sean!

Arriva la prima buona notizia, pare abbia dato segni positivi!
Redskins S Sean Taylor is currently in a responsive state, according to a team official.
There are also rumblings that Taylor may have opened his eyes, though they've not been confirmed. This is the first good news of the day concerning Taylor's still-critical condition. The team will give another update this evening.

Taylor recently awoke in a Miami hospital and gripped a doctor's hand when asked, a source said Monday. Medical officials were uncertain whether Taylor would initially survive after suffering major blood loss when shot early this morning in his South Florida home.
"Sean was not responding well to blood transfusions and things were going in the wrong direction when totally out of the blue he woke up," the source said. "Anything can happen at any time, but the phrase now being thrown around is cautious optimism. Before the guy was slowly passing away. Now, he's slowly getting stronger."
