Appena finita di vedere la partita, credevo di aver sbagliato dvd ed aver messo quello di quando allenava Erickson !!!!!!!!!!
Linea pessima e con un Dilfer che ne accentua le difficoltà forse smith con la sua velocità ci aveva abutuato bene, da salvare ci sono solo gli special team ed una difesa che regge finchè può visto che il primo,primo down lo abbiamo preso se non sbaglio a 4min. dalla fine del primo tempo.

Grades I-III are the most common. Grades IV-VI are very uncommon and are usually the result of a very high-energy injury such as one that might occur in a motor vehicle accident. Level III does not usually require surgery, but it does have a longer recovery period.

GLi infortuni fanno parte del gioco: le buone squadre riescono a sopperire alla mancnza dei titolari. Noi non siamo una buona squadra, ma credo che il problema non siano tanto Davis o Lawson o anche Smith fuori, quanto:
- OL disastrosa, dopo che l'anno scorso riusciva a far correre Gore pur non avendo alcunche' dai passaggi (e quindi come quest'anno, tutti sanno come difendere contro di noi: 8 o 9 nel box)
- WR disastrosi: troppi drop ed errori nel correre le tracce

Sul primo punto, considerando che l'anno scorso non eravamo cosi' male, potremmo anche migliorare; sul secondo la vedo piu' dura

Quoto in pieno; a proposito della linea, non pensavo che lo avrei mai detto ma credo che Kwame dovrebbe avere più spazio (se non sbaglio finora ha giocato solo in qualche azione degli ST). Sappiamo tutti quanto sia inadeguato sui passaggi ma almeno sulle corse il suo lavoro lo sa fare e noi abbiamo un disperato bisogno di trovare un gioco di corsa decente.

A team source has told ESPN's Ed Werder that San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Alex Smith is seeking a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews after preliminary MRI results indicated he appears to have suffered a serious injury to tendons in his right shoulder in Sunday's game.

If the diagnosis performed at Stanford is confirmed by Andrews, the source said that it is expected Smith would opt to have corrective surgery immediately even though he would likely miss the rest of the season.

The 49ers have reported Smith's injury as a grade three shoulder separation that would not require surgery but would sideline him indefinitely.

Ho paura che tu abbia ragione e gli "strani" movimenti fatti a roster sembrano confermarlo: prima mandi via Gilmore preferendogli Lelie e Jacobs e poi te lo riprendi; stessa cosa per Estes, lo tagli e poi lo riprendi... non sono certo dei fenomeni senno' non li avresti lasciati (o qualcun altro li avrebbe presi) e comunque non e' un bel sintomo sulle capacita' di giudizio dello staff

Anche da altre fonti sembra che ESPN abbia tentato lo sgub ma ha fatto diversi errori.

Quanto ai nostri problemi ecco un'accurata analisi della percentuale di lancio di Dilfer nella partita di domenica in base a quanti drop steps ha fatto:

Three steps: 4 of 5 for 31 yards (92.5 passer rating).

Five steps: 4 of 11 for 60 yards with two sacks (55.1 rating).

Seven steps: 4 of 15 for 37 yards with two interceptions and two sacks (0.0 rating). These stats also include the two attempted screen passes.

Shotgun formation: 0 of 1 with one sack. (Also, Smith was injured on a play from the shotgun formation).

Inoltre nella partita abbiamo fatto solo 2 screen, entrambi falliti e uno per un lancetto osceno di Dilfer che se fatto bene avrebbe potuto portare ad un grande guadagno.
In pratica quanto più tempo per sviluppare il gioco ci prendiamo peggio facciamo.

Effettivamente mi sembra che ci sia un po' troppo pessimismo intorno ai niners; ok, è vero che con altre circostanze potremmmo anche essere 0-4, abbiamo una OL che fa pena ed in generale un attacco impalpabile, gli infortuni e così via. Però la classifica dice che siamo 2-2 (2-1) in division e, per strano che possa sembrare, con dscrete possibilità di post season visto che nella NFC solo 3-4 squadre sono state davvero convincenti finora (Dallas, Seattle, Green Bay e Tampa Bay) tutte le altre hanno palesato problemi più o meno gravi.

Anche i Ravens che affrontiamo domenica non mi sembrano star molto bene, almeno per quello che ho visto, con una difesa non più impenetrabile come un tempo un attacco fa molto fatica.
Secondo me nelle condizioni in cui siamo (Smith e Davis out, linea colabrodo e ricevitori che sbagliano tutto lo sbagliabile) il passing game dobbiamo metterlo un po' da parte ma dobbiamo assolutamente ritrovare un gioco di corsa almeno accettabile e sfruttare le situazioni favorevoli che riusciremo a crearci. Il risultato finale poi sarà quello che sarà, l'importante è dare un segnale prima del provvidenziale bye che ci dovrebbe permettere di recuperare qualche infotunato e magari di fare qualche aggiustamento.

Insomma, ottimismo!

Left tackle Jonas Jennings will be out of the San Francisco 49ers' lineup indefinitely while dealing with a "private matter," coach Mike Nolan said Thursday.

The oft-injured Jennings is healthy, but Nolan wouldn't disclose the reason for the seventh-year pro's absence, which could extend through the 49ers' bye next week -- though Nolan said Jennings will return to the team this season.

"As always, our most important interest is in the well-being of our players," Nolan said.

Jennings was at the 49ers' training complex Thursday, but didn't practice. After the morning walkthrough, Jennings consulted with Nolan and team chaplain Earl Smith outside the team's locker room.

Third-year backup Adam Snyder will start in place of Jennings, who started 13 games last season. Jennings won't go back to his offseason home in Atlanta, Nolan said.
