Stagione finita per Deuce McAllister?

ESPNews reports Deuce McAllister suffered a torn ACL Monday night.
If the report is true, McAllister will miss the remainder of the year. The MNF crew announced during the game that McAllister's X-rays came back negative. Reggie Bush would benefit greatly from McAllister's season-ending loss in fantasy leagues, but it'd be a crushing blow to New Orleans' already struggling offense. Special teamer Aaron Stecker and undrafted rookie Pierre Thomas are next on the Saints' depth chart behind Bush. Two ACL tears in three seasons for McAllister would put the 28-year-old's career in doubt.

Ma che benefici e benefici per Bush nelle fantasy league...quest'anno che McAllister sta giocando acciaccato dalle prime partite tutti i Saints ne hanno enormemente risentito, basta guardare le cagate in serie di Brees e le poche yards corse dalla squadra...
L'unica loro salvezza potrebbe essere l'ingaggio di Corey Dillon, a questo punto l'unico che potrebbe garantire un certo apporto se Deuce salterà per l'intera stagione...

Pittman è l'ennesimo caso in cui Payton ha preso, e sta prendendo, abbagli pazzeschi... :gazza:

Oddio, portare una franchigia storicamente non eccelsa a una finale di conference non mi pare poco, se pure quest'anno vincessero solo 3 partite non mi verrebbe certo da dire che Payton ha preso molti abbagli. Brees ora sta' facendo schifo ma l'anno scorso ha messo su giusto qualche numerino...

Ma Angy, vedendo come ha gestito McAllister - Bush ad inizio di questa stagione, insistendo soprattutto sul secondo come RB principale, mi pare un grosso abbaglio... :gazza:
Poi posso sbagliarmi, ma oltre ad un Brees penoso il gioco dei Saints sta arenandosi proprio per il fatto che si sono quasi invertiti i ruoli rispetto all'anno passato, con Bush invece di Deuce a portare palla i 2/3 delle azioni...mandando in campo il 26 quando le difese erano belle sigillate....

Rex Grossman's latest meltdown reportedly will have him standing on the sidelines this week.

The Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times and NFL.com, citing anonymous sources, reported on their Web sites that backup Brian Griese will replace Grossman as the starting quarterback when the Bears face the Lions.

Eccoci qua, finalmente ci siamo: Grossman, OUT! :D

Era ora che prendessero questa decisione, non so in che condizioni possa essere Griese ma 'sto cazzo di Grossman è veramente inguardabile.

KICK RETURNS GETTING MORE HAZARDOUS

Through three weeks of the 2007 NFL season, there have been four serious neck injuries during kick returns.

Four. In three weeks.

Two of them were well publicized. In Week One, Kevin Everett of the Bills fractured his C-3 and C-4 veterbrae. In Week Three, Cedric Killings of the Texans suffered a fracture of the C-4 vertebra in his neck.

The other two have not received much attention. And they happened on the same play.

Per a league source, Packers guard Tony Palmer and Giants defensive end Adrian Awasom collided during a kick return in Week Two. Palmer's injury was reported as a "small-bone fracture in his neck," and Awasom's was dubbed a "fractured transverse process."

The source tells us that both men actually broke the C-4 facet bone (whatever that means) during their violent collision.

Palmer and Awasom never lost feeling in their extremities, but we're told that they both were millimeters away from an outcome like Everett's.

What is it with kick returns and neck injuries? Part of the problem is that the players generate maximum momentum as the coverage unit roars down the field. So when the players come together and instinctively dip their helmets just before collision, they ultimately are placing maximum pressure on the most delicate of regions in this bodies, and putting their lives in peril.

So what can be done? Some league insiders advocate outlawing the "wedge," a blocking formation that attempts to take out as many defenders as possible in the hopes of springing the ball carrier toward the end zone. One source thinks that only one substitution per team should be allowed after a kick off, with the kicking team replacing the kicker and the receiving team bringing in the quarterback, in order to encourage coaches to be less reckless with the health and welfare of the guys who engage in this inherently dangerous activity. If, the theory goes, a team's starters are on the field, greater care will be taken to ensure that guys don't throw caution completely to the wind in an effort to get noticed.

Other possibilities include moving the kickoff back up to the 35, reducing the amount of distance over which the players can gather momentum. Or requiring the players covering the kick to assume a three-point stance before the kick, eliminating the CFL-style running start. Or expanding the game-day active roster so that players who dress out due to injury concerns on the offensive line, for example, aren't pressed into service on special teams when it's not one of their strong suits. Or instituting a weight limit for kick coverage and return teams, since the four guys who suffered neck injuries in three weeks were all larger men. Or, more generally, finding ways to make the outer shell of the helmet less hard, since players will continue to use the protective device as an weapon of choice.

But the goal of this piece isn't to identify a definitive solution -- it's to highlight the problem. And the problem seems real to us, and to others.

As one league source told us on Tuesday, "Plenty of people got worked up about the Bill Belichick situation, but cheating isn't going to put any of these players in wheelchairs."

Nella prima partita 12 portate Bush e 10 McAllister, considera che nel primo tempo i Saints hanno collezionato una serie di three & out e non riuscivano minimamente a correre, poi sono andati terribilmente sotto e hanno dovuto lanciare; nella seconda 10 portate a testa e di nuovo sono andati presto sotto e quindi hanno dovuto forzare, nella terza McAllister si è infortunato presto. A me il problema sembra più che altro di linea offensiva che non riesce a creare buchi piuttosto di un RB che corre più di un altro.

La OL ha le sue colpe. ma quest'anno l'utilizzo di McAllister è diminuito, guardando le partite mi sono accorto + volte che era maggiormente schierato Bush, probabilmente perchè sulle azioni di passaggio è efficace, forse addirittura + che sulle corse,....comunque dicevo, in 2/3 delle azioni c'era in campo il sophomore da USC, erroneamente prima ho specificato a portare palla, ma intendevo dire come presenza fisica in campo...

Andando sotto con il punteggio in genere tendi a lanciare di più no? ed essendo Bush più abile e soprattutto più usato da Payton come ricevitore (infatti non è inusuale che siano in campo insieme con Bush allineato come ricevitore) mi sembra normale ci sia stato di più in campo il presidente.

Sto finendo di aggiornarmi su quello che è accaduto in week 3 ma non mi è chiara una cosa: le sostituzioni di Leinart e McNair in Baltimore-Arizona sono state dovute ad infortuni o a scelte tecniche?

mcnair probelmi fisici per quello che so. leinart perchè giocava da schifo, ma come citato da whatarush in un altro topic la scusa ufficiale: Warner più adatto all'attacco no huddle utilizzato nel secondo tempo.... :lol2:
