In vantaggio 6-5 nell'ottavo, Hoffman brucia la salvezza e agli extra un fenomenale Villanueva fa vincere i Dodgers...due volte consecutive che il bullpen ci "tradisce" e inizio ad averne abbastanza di Villanueva, fra ieri e oggi ne ha combinate di tutte i colori. Giusto per dire che nel pitching facciamo abbastanza pena, da starter Looper concede 4HR a L.A.

Beh ad inizio stagione erano tutti fenomeni. Hoffman che non prendeva mai un punto, Di Felice intoccabile, tanto per fare due esempi. E' forse anche normale che adesso ci sia una specie di inversione di tendenza...

Per identificare il momento che attraversano i Brewers, basta pensare che stanotte sono stati incassati 14 (quattordici!) punti contro la corazzata Nationals, per di più concedendo due slams allo stesso battitore, Willingham...sconcertato.

The Brewers have fired pitching coach Bill Castro and replaced him with Class AAA Nashville pitching coach Chris Bosio.

In another drastic move, the Brewers have sent down shortstop J.J. Hardy and recalled Alcides Escobar from Nashville.

hardy in AAA, mossa subdola, se ci rimane fino a settembre, il suo service time si bloccherà e diventerà free agent non nel 2010 ma nel 2011, il che alzerà le sue quotazoni quest'inverno, quando verrà tradato per fare posto ad alcide escobar.

The Brewers spared no expense in getting their remaining high draft picks signed before the 11 p.m. deadline Monday.

The Brewers signed supplemental first-round pick Kentrail Davis, an outfielder from the University of Tennessee, for $1.2 million. At the time of the signing, no player in the supplemental round had received a higher bonus.

Davis' signing bonus also eclipsed - barely - the money the Brewers gave first-round pick Eric Arnett. A right-hander from Indiana University, Arnett signed for $1.197 million.

Arnett was the 26th player taken and Davis was No. 39. Davis was a sophomore-eligible player who had a somewhat down season (.308, 9 HRs, 30 RBI in 55 games) on a poor team but is considered to have offensive potential with budding power.

Stocky at 5-foot-9 and 200 pounds, the left-handed hitter has plus speed but only an average arm and probably will move from center field to left as a professional.

"First of all, we're splitting hairs (on the bonuses to Arnett and Davis)," said Brewers scouting director Bruce Seid. "Eric was a great fit to us, but we considered Kentrail a first-round talent, too. We knew what it would take to sign him and the talent was too good to pass up."

The Brewers went even farther over the recommended bonus in signing fourth-round pick Brooks Hall for $700,000. Hall was the 136th player taken, and MLB recommended a bonus of $198,000 for that spot.

Hall was a two-way player in high school at Anderson, S.C., but will forgo his days at third base to concentrate on pitching for the Brewers. He had a scholarship to South Carolina that the Brewers paid him handsomely to abandon.

The Brewers also signed 16th-rounder Ryan "Scooter" Gennett, a prep shortstop from Sarasota, Fla, for another over-slot bonus of $260,000. With his signing, the Brewers reeled in their first 23 picks and 32 of 53 players drafted overall.

"It's a real good mix of players," said Seid. "The scouts knew these players and what we wanted to do. We're real happy with this group."
