Mario Manningham agreed to a pay cut to stay in San Francisco, slashing his base salary from $3.6 million to $1.8 million.
Manningham is coming off ACL and PCL reconstruction, so he had no leverage. The total pay cut is actually $2.15 million because Manningham agreed to eliminate a $250,000 offseason roster bonus in addition to a $100,000 workout bonus. Manningham suffered the injury in Week 16 and is not expected to be healthy for training camp. Anything the 49ers get from him in 2013 will be a bonus.

Intanto il nostro front office sembra aver capito e volere correggere uno degli errori grossolani della scorsa stagione, ovvero quello di sacrificare il personale dello special team in favore del numero di opzioni in attacco. Secondo me verrà firmato ancora un altro special team ace, potrebbe essere uno tra Gooden e Grant se non si sono già accasati altrove.

Diversamente da quanto poteva sembrare l'altro ieri, non mi pare esattamente la tattica del 2011, anche se allora era agosto ed i tempi erano tutto un altro paio di maniche. Probabilmente i nostri fanno loro il motto di tutti gli agenti: il giocatore giusto al prezzo giusto, solo che il prezzo giusto lo stabiliscono i 9ers e vediamo chi accetta.

Speriamo che se ne siano accorti...i nostri ST l'anno scorso mi hanno fatto tirare tante di quelle bestemmie! Per carita' il metro di paragone era altissimo dato che l'anno prima erano stati a dir poco strepitosi (Championship escluso... )

Ufficiale la firma di Skuta, ottima mossa per gli ST che l'anno scorso hanno sofferto troppo. Aso invece è andato via senza firmare.

Mi rispondo da solo, facendo un discorso solo economico, rogers non è tagliabile in quanto si risparmierebbero solo 1.1 m

Il più tagliabile mi pare whitner, sia perchè ci darebbe 4.1 m di spazio salariale, sia perchè anche per PFF è uno dei più sopravvalutati e dal minor rendimento.
Essendoci Pollard a spasso io ci farei più di un pensierino

io penserei a un veterano al massimo, tra cb e S.

Poi andrei assolutamente di draft per entrambe le posizioni.

a me piacerebbe una cosa di questo tipo: CB1 Rogers - FS Reid (da LSU, draft) - SS Pollard - CB2 Asomugha (se non esagera con le pretese).

Via Whitner e dentro Pollard che è ancora giovane a far coppia con il giovane Reid.

Brown e Culliver come rincalzi + CB scelto alla 2° alta al draft. Se brown non ci stesse si guadagnerebbero 3.5 m di cap....

Cercherei insomma di alzare un pò anche la statura delle secondarie, perchè abbiamo visto come sono andate le cose sia contro Atlanta, che al grande ballo

First of all, the 49ers use a classic four-man defensive line more than 65 percent of the time, in their sub packages. On base downs, the 49ers use a nose tackle, but that does not mean they use a 3-4. In a 3-4, the nose tackle lines up directly over the center in a zero-technique position, and the ends line up on the outside shoulder of the offensive tackles in a five-technique position – creating three “bubbles” at the line of scrimmage. The 49ers don’t do this.

The 49ers base defense is a 4-3 Under, a variation of a four-man line. The defensive ends are not five-techniques. The ends are reduced, or “eagled down,” over the outside eye of the guards to three-techniques, and the outside linebacker – Aldon Smith – essentially is a stand-up defensive end.

The nose tackle is a one gap player. He lines up between the center and guard in one-technique position. The strong safety usually plays the eighth-man-in-the-box concept, even from depth, just so nobody along the front has to be a two-gap defender.

Glenn Dorsey, the 49ers’ newest defensive tackle, played five-technique for the Chiefs and was not successful, but the 49ers will not ask him to play five-technique. They’re going to ask him to play three-technique or one-technique, classic 4-3 positions, the positions he played in college

Il mio dubbio è sulla posizione del nostro NT e sul fatto che sia one gap player, ma non sono così ferrato da porterlo sostenere con certezza
Dorsey secondo me non sostituisce Sopoaga, ma è stato preso per essere un uomo di linea ibrido tra tackle e end, così come lo è McDonalds e lo era RJF. Il vero sostituto di Sopo dovrebbe essere Williams.
Poi mi pare ci sia un altro panzone che nessuno ha menzionato ma che sia a roster, in questo momento non ricordo nemmeno il nome
