Taking into consideration several aspects (NHL late start, our site matters, league rules, the gigantic number of players on the market etc.. ), the followings are the dates chosen for the start of the new season!

september 6th (Monday - h: 12.00 CET)
Trade deadline; trades will be suspended until the end of the september free agency.
(Deadline to protest pending trades is 24hrs later, september 7th at 12 o'clock)

september 7th  (Tuesday- h: 24.00 CET)
Deadline for setting the protected players (up to 16 multiyear non-entry draft running contracts) and the restricted free agents (up to 3 RFA).

september 8th  (Wednesday - h: 10.00 CET)
Start of the september Free Agency session.

Times spans for different durations of leading offers:
8th september - 14th september  -> 72 hrs
15th september - 23th september  -> 48 hrs
24th september  - 30th september  -> 24 hrs

september 12th (Sunday - h: 24.00 CET)
Deadline to launch auction bids for the available RFAs and EFAs.

september 15th (Wednesday - h: 24.00 CET)
End of the RFA/EFA market.

september 16th (Thursday - h: 24.00 CET)
Deadline to submit undisclosed final offers for RFAs/EFAs whose biddings are still pending after the september 15th deadline.

september 29th (Wednesday - h: 24.00 CET)
Deadline to launch auction bids for the available UFAs.

september 30th (Thursday - h: 24.00 CET)
End of all the open biddings for the 2010 september FA session.

october 1st (Friday - h: 24.00 CET)
Deadline to submit undisclosed final offers for UFAs whose biddings are still pending after the september 30th deadline AND re-opening of trades.

october 4th (Monday - h: 24.00 CET)
Deadline to set the starting roster (main roster and farm team) on the league site and to make requests to set players as retired/signed overseas and be able to get them off the cap. Please note that right after this deadline roster moves will start counting against the limit and eligible players will be again exposed to waivers.

october 7th (Thursday - h: 18.00 CET)
Start of the season!
(deadline to complete off-season buyouts and opening of the in-season free agency)

As a result of previous discussions, the LC has approved a new form of buyout to be available during the off-season, in addition to the usual buyout option available during the season.

These are the terms decided for this season (available from now till october 7th 18.00 cet):

off-season buyout terms
1yr left: 2/3 of the salary to be paid
2yrs left: 2/3 of the salary to be paid in both years
3yrs left (applies only to 4yrs long entry draft contracts): 2/3 of the salary to be paid for the first 2 yrs, 1/3 to be paid for the last yr (the 4th) of the contract.


For now at least, this new feature will not be implemented on the league site and buyouts will keep on being managed here on the forums.

The part of the rulebook about the september free agency has finally been updated accordingly with the availment of the league site, and is now available in english: http://forum.playitusa.com/http://vps.l ... 7#p1549427

Everyone is encouraged to read it before the start of the free agency session.

One innovation is that the league site this year singlehandedly manages all our stats and this allows the system to calculate the starting price for biddings using fantasy points (calculation averaged over the last 2 seasons) instead of points (G+A), thus better reflecting the real value of the player.
The new charts for the calculation of the auction base (automatically provided by the system) also add more thresholds than we had in the past to get more accurated starting prices for every player.
Please point out any suspect numbers you may notice while looking through the available FA.

It's time to welcome a new member into our league!

As announced here, ClaudeGiroux joins the Philadelphia BroadStreetBullies as a co-GM of The Answer Palermitano. 


ClaudeGiroux is a well known member of the playit community already and one of the best contributor to the anemic NHL section of the forums.
I'll leave up to him to further introduce himself if he feels like (in this thread for example, or in a new apposite one).

Filppula will stay C/LW for this upcoming season.

Will become a C next season, unless 2 things will happen altogether: he becomes UFA next off-season and a new change of role is deemed appropriate after his play in this season.

So, if you're going to make offers for him in this free agency, please take into consideration that for the 2nd (and 3rd) year of his eventual multiyear contract his role will switch from C/LW to C.

Please note that because of previous site blackout, the times of the biddings are soon probably going to be brought back (or rather, their deadline be postponed) by some hours to re-establish previous conditions: it was not possible to bid over players whose offers were expiring, or to raise by 0.2 players that are now in the last 12hrs period (0.5 minimum raise)...

a couple more things to point out.

- for 'technical reasons' (deemed as an unnecessary mess to fix it now), the limit for 3 days offers switched from tomorrow to today; as you may have noticed, offers made today only take 2 days to expire. The switch from 2 to 1 should stay as announced instead (on 24th).

- there was a mistake on Kopecky's position. It was settled as LW, but the site showed a C when the bidding started. Please note that he has been switched to LW now and NY holds the current leading offer; you still have plenty of time to make a new bid if interested. :)

Note:

biddings are now ordered accordingly with their expiration time instead that with the time of the last bid.

As a consequence, when you bid on a player he will not be necessarily pushed back on top of the list anymore (in particular, that will happen again on 24th after 10.00 CET)

Please remember, tomorrow will be the last day available to launch new biddings in the september free agency session, thus the last opportunity to offer multiyear contracts before september 2011!

Tomorrow, october 1st, the 10/11 regular season schedule will be made available on the league site. 

This way, all GMs will know their first opponent before having to submit their starting rosters.
Please remind the deadline for setting the roster is Monday 4th at midnight (CET).

After such deadline, roster moves will count against the seasonal limit (50) and players moving to the farm will be again exposed to waivers if eligibible.

League site update

The official 2010/2011 regular season schedule has been released .
Please note that the 21st week matchups are nothing more than a supposition, as they will probably change accordingly with the preliminary playoff round (match-up between 4th and 5th of each conference).

As usual, there is at least one team (could be two depending on the 21st week) of your conference that you'll face only once instead of twice.


The starting ranking on the right is momentarily ordered in alphabetical order.

League site update

the "lineup" tool is now available!

The way it works is very simple and similar to yahoo.

Here are the main differences to pay attention to:

- players on the main roster are by default all on the bench for every day of the season and (unlike on yahoo) you need to up them on every single day lineup. On the other hand, once that's done they will stay there even after you make a move; that means the lineups you compiled for the following days will remain correct aside from the single player you moved. Hence, there is no valid reason anymore to not submit your lineup for at least the following week.
You are not asked to pay money for Kachlex&Vicram's amazing work (albeit possible if desired), but we do ask you to show the little effort required on your part by compiling your lineup for days in advance. It only takes a few minutes and ensures the regularity of the matchups' outcomes will be safeguarded.
Void lineups will not be tolerated and we will consider sending warnings to GMs not compiling their lineups for at least a few days ahead.

- as soon as a player is added to your main roster, he is available to contribute for games that are not started yet. This means as soon as a transaction (roster move, trade, FA signing, waiver acquisition) is completed you will be able to use the acquired player in the lineup of that same day.

- you will be able to shift players in and out of your daily lineup until the start of their game; this means they won't get blocked by the system like 10 minutes before, you will be able to move them until the time listed as start of the game.

- comparing with yahoo, apparently the only drawback will be the lack of live scoring updates. Complete updates will be performed everyday about 9.00 CET.

- the times showed are all CET (not sure if the option to switch time zone will be provided later on)

- at the moment to look for your matchup you need to go to the schedule page and click on the tag on the right of your matchup.
Later on current week matchups should become available in the homepage and a direct link to your matchup be added in your lineup page.


All GMs are encouraged to try the new tool in the next few days and report in this thread any supposed malfunctioning.

Please remember your main roster can not have more than 25 players (aside from those listed as IR); if that happens when the deadline comes, players with the most fantasy pts total will be reassigned to your farm to bring your total number of players back at 25.

From october 5th onward the system will prevent you from breaking that limit.



Note about lineups
check your players' NHL teams to make sure they are correct (the update has been now performed) and report eventual remaining errors.
If you don't, some of the listed daily opponents of your players could be mistaken; the league will not be considered responsible for any resulting harm to your team.
